Hey all! I know the WD video is two weeks old, but I wanted to shed some light on what actually happened with that Cybertruck casting and how it managed to end up broken.

Hope you guys enjoy the video, hope it also reminds everyone that the internet is simply a fun place. in reality, there's one snapped Cybertruck frame out there. There are however thousands of trucks out there that have showcased a variety of towing extremes.

If it could be proven that they used multiple takes and maliciously edited the video to put Tesla in a bad light, there could be a lawsuit in their future. The problem is that the damage has already been done and Tesla can't really do much to stop it.

"Tesla shuts down video showing fragile Cybertruck..." Yeah, that wouldn't be a good look.

However, suing them and being successful and having them put out a public appology along with releasing the full video may go a long way.

But, no.

Lawsuit didn't work with Top Gear and the Roadster. It's entertainment, not news.

This ^^^ It is like the Tucker Carlson defamation lawsuit. Many will recall that Fox News successfully argued, in the words of the judge finding in favor of Fox on the defamation lawsuit: "The "'general tenor' of the show should then inform a viewer that [Carlson] is not 'stating actual facts' about the topics he discusses and is instead engaging in 'exaggeration' and 'non-literal commentary.' ...Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr. Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrive with an appropriate amount of skepticism' about the statement he makes."

WD is the same. The general tenor of the show should inform the viewer that these are not actual facts.

I feel like it's a round about way of WD being able to be belligerent here though. He heavily states in the video Cyber is not road safe.

There are limits to testing a vehicle it seems to me, and here we see the dishonesty of the exercise. There are some who don't need money, and it makes me angry to see such behavior and waste! But hey it takes all sorts to make a world, they say!!! ??

Craziest thing to remember is he's got a sponsor on his video. Likely paid for a pretty substantial amount of the truck. Now the video he made has 19 million views, likely paying well over a half a million in adsense revenue. Now add on merch sales too.

It's a business for him.

The casting wasn't a concern til he invented concern with his unbased "test"

I didnt watch their video and I dont know if they went back and got that F150 across those culverts. I want to see that F150 come off the other side of that culvert test and slam its rear suspension on that concrete slab that's holding the culverts in place. My suspicion is it would end up with a bent frame. Thanks for the informative content Greg.

I agree. I thought it was entertaining. And the CT seemed to do pretty well. Ford wasn’t drivable after first test with broken driveline.

He’s done just as bad to G wagons and Ferrari, yet the Tesla example gets all the focus since so many love to hate on it and will use this or anything available to fuel that storyline.
