Can anyone please explain to me what the differences or advantages are the GEN 3 wall connector for home charging versus the 240 V charging cable that came with the cybertruck?

The power as above mentioned, also one is portable, nice to always keep with you for an emergency, don’t want to be plugging it in and out every time you leave, it’ll were out the outlet. Also Gen 3 just looks cooler on your wall. One of my Gen 3 chargers is actually connected via a plug, I wired it that way because I’m hoping to buy a welder some day and it’ll be nice to plug it in, also, I didn’t measure my run correctly and was 2 feet short from where I wanted to be, so I just made it an outlet and wired in the Gen 3 to a plug.

I thought the Cybertruck one was also bi-directional capable, or am I mixing that up?

The Cybertruck Powershare Mobile Connector is bidirectional (well, one direction at a time) once they release outlet adapters and the software to support them.
The Powershare UWC supports waking up the Powershare Gateway 3V.

Wall Connector also has a J1772 connector for non-NACS charging. I guess the mobile does too, or can.

I am using used Gen1 wall connectors. I keep the Gen2 that came with my cars in the car. Used Gen1's should be cheaper. Ebay looks like about $200.

32A max on the mobile connector. So, 50% faster charging on the wall connector so long as you can handle the 60A breaker required.
I have a 50A breaker with the gen 3. How does that effect my charging speed?

50A breaker is only rated for 40A continuous load, so it would be 20% slower than a 60A breaker.

If your wall connector was not configured properly, you could be drawing 48A on a 50A breaker without it tripping, but it's not rated for that.

Ah good to know. I've had the setting on my app on 48A. I hope that didn't do any damage. I'll set it at 40A now.

First the name and the configuration.

It's the Wall Connector and the Mobile Connector.

While there is a max current differential, it will seldom make a difference. In most cases you will charged in a few hours, no matter which one that you use.

The Mobile Connector does allow the option of using a variety of adapters for different plug types. There's the NEMA Adapter Bundle that includes pretty much any adapter that you can dream of, except for the TT-30.
And a big duh is that the Mobile Connector is portable, that's why it is included in the vehicle.
For each of my cars, I bought an additional Mobile Connector. I use Mobile Connectors at home and then there's also another one in the vehicle in case I need it.

So, in one aspect, they can be assumed as identical in functionality, they both charge the vehicle. But they do fit different use cases.

As to Powershare, that's lot more speculation at this point than fact. Indeed, with today's Mobile Connector, you CAN charge another Tesla from the Cybertruck, nothing else needed.

Although my electrician did say it pulls 48A. Is he just plain wrong? Or is there still a possibility this could work?

The vehicle has 3 inverters at 16A apiece, for a total of 48A.

On a 60A breaker, 80% is 48A and therefore full max charging for the vehicle.

On a 50A breaker, 80% is 40A and will charge a little slower.

Even on a Mobile Connecter at 32A, the difference isn't that big of a deal of charging speed.

It's a code thing. Both of the current wall connectors can pull 48A, but they should have a 60A breaker since continuous loads (3h or more is considered continuous) is only rated for 80% of the circuit. If your electrician only installed a 50A breaker then they likely also used wire rated for that breaker. It'll almost definitely work without tripping the breaker, until it suddenly doesn't. That could be as harmless as the breaker failing or it could be more destructive.

You can also just configure the wall connector for a 50A circuit, it'll set the max load to 40A so you don't need to manually change it in the vehicle.
