Went on a trip to Keywest this weekend. What an amazing drive. This truck is just awesome. CT at the southernmost point! European tourists are just amazed looking at the truck in real. The last but one supercharger at Marathon airport on the way to keys has only 2 chargers working but they’re upgrading it with latest ones!

Efficiency on my way back through the keys was 282Wh/mi! Traffic was steady around 60’s and some places 50’s.

I’m not the OP, but my lifetime @ 5k miles is 390 kW/mi. About 4k of those miles are highway 85-60 mph. My 24 mi round trip to work and back is 310 kW/mi. That’s about 390 miles per charge when driving that 24 miles (combination of highway@75 mph and surface streets). Now that my roadtrips are done for the year, I’m looking forward to seeing that lifetime number come down.

3000 of those miles were from Northeast trip to NJ/PA.

That is about right. I just had mostly 78 mph 700 highway cross mountain pass miles roughly 435 wh per mile.

We took the boat to Marathon about a month ago. The Marathon Supercharger situation was very annoying. It is a pivotal station as it is one of the only ones between Homestead and Key West. Even worse, I pulled up the station one day and there was a Model Y from New Jersey stradling both available spots. There was a couple in front of me waiting. They told me that the people charging said that one of the chargers was out of order - a complete lie. They parked the way they did to avoid having to split the charge rate. When we pressed the issue about them moving over they promptly left. Needless to say, both stations worked just fine.

I lived in NJ for a long time and I know the feeling :) Actually there’s another 250 KW supercharger 30 miles away from Key West at Big pine key. I stopped at Marathon for few minutes and drove to next one after realizing 70KW speed between both chargers.

I’m planning on doing this drive from Fort Lauderdale, any idea on the supercharger situation (or lack of) in KW?

New to EV's, can you explain this to me?
What is "split the charge rate"? (emphasis mine)

thanks!

I’ve been the the FL Keys dozens of times. Don’t forget to stop in Big Pine Key for some amazing pizza at the No Name Pub.

Leave a dollar bill with your name on and attach it to the wall or ceiling before leaving (If you can find room!).

You can see the route in your Tesla App with the supercharger stops along the way. KWH is mentioned in Tesla superchargers maps online and also in Tesa cars. Marathon supercharger location is rated at 150KW with 2 stations working currently but it’s getting upgraded to newer ones. There’s one at big pine key with 8 stations rated at 250kWH. If you’re towing then based in the range you’re getting, I would manually look up for superchargers on Tesla supercharger website and plan accordingly.

Even though a supercharger location is rated at 150KWH, the rate of charge (speed) can decrease based on number of vehicles charging at that location. The 150KW speed can split into like 70 + 70 between two vehicles like in the case of Marathon airport supercharger where just 2 stations were working.
