July 11th 2024 - I wasn't planning on this, but since it's been requested, I'll document my trip as i go. I'll do my best to update this first post as a blog of sorts and I'll do it as often as I can. idk how I'll do it yet, probably reply to this thread, then just update this post with a link to each update post.
Please do not worry about that if it takes too much time away from your activities and family time. It would be novel for people here but maybe just take a bunch of pictures (make sure your location is on and coords are saved in your picture meta data) and log your own daily notes (my spouse does this in a google sheet and it is awesome for review). If you wanted when you are back then you could recap here.

TBH, I would just skip it and enjoy the experience with your family. I've done it both ways and one way is far more enjoyable and relaxing.

This Saturday my family and I begin an epic journey. A 6000 mile(there and back) cross country road trip.
Nashville -> Grand Canyon -> Yellowstone -> Portland -> Garibaldi(Oregon coast) -> and back.

I'm beyond excited and a little nervous. Haven't driven this long a distance in a very very long time. We're camping the entire trip. Just hope the nights arent TOO hot.

Looks like a sweet setup. Those Tesla vault storage bins looking sweet for tucking under the tent.

Agree! Though it will good learning for those who are all planning such long trips.

Just came back from North NV, Idaho (Twin Falls and Idaho Falls), Butte, Glacier National Park Montana, Calgary, Banff/Jasper (4 Canadian National Parks), Vancouver, Oregon, Cali and home.

Wifey took a few notes and I dictated charging challenges and quirky Cybertruck numbers. I made sure to keep it light so as not interfere with our enjoyment of the trip.

However, I cannot overstate the enormous amount of downtime spent planning and then rerouting to hit the supercharges and the added range anxiety as I encountered unusual energy drain and some unreliable % of remaining juice on screen on next charging stop.

It's a sweet ride and enjoyed beautiful places and eats. But all those planning and range anxieties had me drained that I can't now find the momentum to even just write it briefly in passing. I felt the need though to pay forward the knowledge I picked up from those who did this before me.

I split my 6000 miles (actually 7000 miles) into two different trips, but I likewise camped the whole time - both trips. My wife and I took our two dogs, and the experience was FANTASTIC! Have fun!

So far so good. 2000 miles complete. We’ve reached the Grand Canyon and are setting up camp. I’ll post some photos soon as I can.
Guess you've passed by Mesa Verde already! We were headed to Grand Canyon from Moab, stayed overnight at Mesa Verde (1 charger at the hotel). Wanted to see Four Corners and the Forrest Gump site near Mexican Hat, so had to backtrack and hit the Blanding charger again before heading to the Canyon.

You were all boondocking or stay in the camp site some time?

Trip complete. Back at home.. back at work.. womp womp.

Total Distance: 7796 mi
Total Energy: 3492 kWh
Evg. Energy: 448 Wh/mi

The drive home from OR to TN, we decided to not stop anywhere. We were tired and ready to get home, and relax a bit before returning back to work. I really really wish we had FSD. Would have made this crazy drive home so much better. Anways, we got home in 2 days. It was a crazy long drive, taking shifts to drive straight through. Left on Tuesday at 4am, arrived in TN Thur at 4am. It was estimated it'd take 1 day 20 hours. We only added 4 extra hours to the estimate. Not bad.

No issues with the truck other than a piece of rubber from the tonneau coming off and flapping in the wind. Stopped at a home depot, applied some adhesive, and problem was solved.

We won't try to camp each day across the country again. It really limited out drive time. Forced us to take 5 days to get there. Most campgrounds close their gates at 10pm, and several nights we cut it really close to get there on time. I suggest driving through hard to key locations and spending more time there rather than going from location to location each day.

Q: Would I do this again for my family reunion camping trip next year?
A: Yes, and with FSD I forsee this trip becoming even more enjoyable.

@Campstream I was disappointed to see the Kickstarter failed to get funding. Please, please, please, still make your cybertruck HVAC product. I NEED it. Would be happy to take a test/beta product and help with testing!

Tip: If you have the Cargo bins, there is a small space at the back of the bed of the truck. It's perfect for firewood. Can't fit a lot, but it's a nice addition should a campsite not offer any.

Tip: Fishing poles and camping chairs fit really well in the gap between the cargo bins.

Tip: Do not rely on a campsites electric hookups for charging unless you verify it has the correct 220 plug. I planned to arrive at the campsite sorta low, got there, and ugh our first camp stop in Oklahoma had Hookups, but not the hookups we needed. Ended up plugging into 110 and it sucked. Plans changed after that first night.

Tip: Grand Canyon, there are super chargers just south of Grand Canyon Village. Top off there, and do the primitave camping sites. Only about 18/night, much cheaper than the rest.

Tip: Nabraska, RUNZA restarant. Avoid it. Soggy mess of food and the area stank of.. well.. lets just say grossness. Coulda just been this location, but wasn't a great first impression of the chain. Sorry to all the Runza lovers out there.

Thanks for everything you’ve shared so far! I would love to see more picture of your setup and hear any additional tips n’ tricks. I have no camping experience but cyber camping has piqued my interest.

Average freeway speed? Did a cross country in my MX going mostly 80 mph. Always curious if going slower is actually better due to charging time etc.

Thanks for all the info. I am guessing most campsites have 240v NEMA14-30a receptacles and you had a NEMA 14-50a plug. You can buy a 14-30 cord from the Tesla shop as well as adapters like in this photo. Anybody here successfully used a 3rd party adapter with their CT’s mobile connector?
