PowerShare gateway malfunction

My powerwall gateway started going crazy today. It started banging and knocking loudly. Enough the shake the house and make the lights flicker. It stopped after about an hour at which point I noticed the charger did not work anymore and the gateway is offline.

Per my electrician it was from a bad Tesla firmware update. Guess I have no charger for now. Still waiting for PGE to approve the PowerShare and install the final disconnect piece.

Electrician called. Apparently Tesla told all their electricians need to disconnect communication cable from chargers tonight asap so they can push firmware update. Physically go to every single customer by tonight.

IDK about the need to "disconnect communication cable from chargers", my PowerShare has a breaker for the WC that I will turn off for tonight, just in case.

Not sure what damage the comm wires can do when the circuit has no power...?

Apparently it will keep the firmware update from succeeding.

I just received the call from Trout electric in SoCal.

The electricians came and disconnected the low voltage wires inside the gateway.

The charger works, but the powershare is deactivated as well as the the power monitoring from the app.

These guys are running around to all the installations tonight to take of this issue. Interesting.

My electrician is on his way over now. They’re definitely busy tonight. Wonder how much Tesla is comping them for their issue.

On a side topic, I approved my quote from Qmerit and I ordered my power share gate way and universal charger. I recieved the universal charger but the Powershare gateway still does not have a tracking number. It’s will be 6 days on Wednesday since I ordered everything. How long did it take everyone else to receive the gateway?

oh ok yours must have been earlier, I believe they changed the method where now it ships to the customer. How long after you approved the quote did the electrician bring it to your home?

I intentionally scheduled out an extra month and a half to prep the area of install

We got the same problem from this morning. Called Trout Electric, I guess I was the first one because they put me on hold for a while for finding out what was wrong, and they sent a tech to work on it around 3:00 PM.
