My local service center discovered why my front camera stopped working. The evidence points to rodents chewing up some wires, plastic, and insulation behind the front bumper and frunk area. They must really like Tesla plastic/rubber for some reason. Any ideas/tricks to help protect from rodents going forward?

Good catch, maybe the service center damaged it during removal. I’ll ask. I don’t remember hitting anything and no sentry events.

Rodents look for safe/warm places to nest. Additionally, they’re always chewing to keep their teeth growth in check, not to mention any attraction to materials that smell/taste like food. Unfortunately you just have to give them something even more appealing than what might be in your truck: keep baited traps around/under the vehicle until (or even long after) you eliminate the problem.

Elon's tommy machine gun proof zombie apocalypse Cybertruck can be defeated by mini mouse
Maybe Tesla will make a rat zapping force field addition for Sentry mode or at least a few internal motion sensors in these areas would be helpful.

You may want to try an electronic rodent repellent similar to this:

I have one of these in each vehicle that stays outside.

Those aren't found to be effective at anything but using up power.

If they're hungry enough to eat cables, they'll ignore the sounds.

I don't have any solutions other than 'cat'.

My spouse is pretty good at rattrapping, tho. Got two in two days last week when one was chewing on the back room.

Try to eliminate hiding spaces near your vehicle.

Good advice, I already started pulling plants and bushes near the driveway and elsewhere on the property.

How did you connect it to the Cybertruck’s electrical system and the particular spot you put it?
They are in non-Cybertruck vehicles, but I tapped them in near the 12V battery or jump point. When I get my CT I’ll have to add one as it will stay outside as well.

I understand from the manual there is a 48 volt power feed located in the frunk so it will need a step down converter to place one there.

I’m sure opinions vary, but they work for me.

However, if one has a varmint infestation, other scorched earth type measures are needed. Lol.

I like your advice on eliminating hiding places. I would add eliminating potential food sources as well.

A lot of wire coatings these days use soy based which rats and mice are sometimes attracted to or like to chew.

You could try spraying inside the frunk area with some sort of rodent repellent. There are a few on Amazon like Grandpa Gus brand.
