Why can’t CT have fold-flat rear seats like other pickups?

Midgates are for people who don't understand how easily cargo can kill you.

That’s a good point! I mean I don’t expect a full blown midgate but at least a window that can roll down, or an access tunnel by folding down middle seat.

I’m also surprised Rivian R1T is the same way without bed access from cabin.

Is it a structural thing for EV pickups?

You know really it boils down to everyone wants what they don’t have ? I’m sure on a Chevy forum they are wishing they had something the CT has and wondering why the hell they didn’t add it. I guess you can’t have it all and different strokes for different folks but for sure this one seems as it would be a win across the board for every buyer

It’s the Midgate or the motorized tonneau cover. I mean I’m sure there are ways for both, but probably not cheaply or as well/cleanly integrated. The Rivian has this in common.

I use my cover every single day. I might use a midgate a few times a month, tops. The Chevy doesn’t have 4 roof rack mounts that could support 16’ boards. Of course, it would cost us extra for the racks, but at least it’s an option. And not a giant addition like a ladder rack is for a traditional pickup.

The tonneau/vault cover is one of my fav features.

Didn't I read on this site that the 4 roof racks mounts are not being offered anymore?
Only the 4 bed rack mounts.

The mounts are there. Just the access doors to the mounts are gone. So the cheap plastic trim pieces on either side of the roof glass have to be removed or replaced with the ones that have the access doors. But they’re there, per Wes.

Such a strange decision. I have them so I was quoting my use case too. And in the end, I have two car seats in the back row, so I wouldnt use a mid gate at all :(
