Re-tooling the line, starting a new line to meet production targets, or just taking a pause to better evaluate the real TAM numbers at various price points? ... Probably ...

If Tesla is anything they are certainly, like their leader, unpredictable.

From Joe Tegtmeyer to his Patreons:

First off, I want to address questions about Cybertruck production and the halt this week as noted yesterday some media. There is in fact a halt this week but most of this is due to reconfiguration work at the south end of the production line near where the boring tunnel entrance is located. Crews are busy finishing up the tunnel on this side to allow the Cybertrucks to transit under the highway and to the outbound lot.

In order to do this, the current temporary route out of the factory for the newly built Cybertrucks needs to be changed and rerouted to the tunnel. I think the goal is to start using the tunnel for the Cybertrucks sometime the week of 16 December, so this is some of the final work to make that happen.

Tesla is only unpredictable to those who don't understand their guiding principles of operation.

Excellent!

And once they have the tunnel working smoothly with human drivers, they will start streaming out of the factory autonomously! If that doesn't make front-page news, the media is even more hopeless than I assumed.

This doesn’t fit the haters narrative that Tesla is going out of business though haha

That sounds like gamblers rationalization but you clearly like the Kool-Aid.

Yup, tunnel preperation.

https://www.teslaoracle.com/2024/12...ue-to-the-tunnel-construction-at-the-factory/

There might be some cool drone footage from Joe soon. It may show completed Cybertruck’s leaving the assembly building without drivers and autonomously driving through the tunnel and self parking in the pickup lot.

Some new BMW’s and Mini’s are already doing this.

What i don't follow is how do TESLA goes from millions of reservations to being caught up in under a year now offering cheap leases.

That's the way it always is with high volume reservations at a low price. I've been predicting a very low conversion rate since 2021, and that was before we knew how high the price was going to rise to and what was going to happen with consumers discretionary spending and high interest rates.

Just look at the Model 3 reservations. In 2016 it was the most reserved car in history, when they started selling it to regular folks at the start of 2018, it only took 9 months to burn through the reservations. Of course, some of them were still waiting for the $35K EV that was anticipated in 2016, but most of those people had to wait for 2019 to get that.

None of this prevented the Model 3 from becoming the best-selling EV in the world. Sales continued to grow long after the reservation list was exhausted. The same will be true of the Cybertruck. 2025 sales will make 2024 sales look pale in comparison.

You really thought everyone that put down a $100 refundable reservation would buy a $100K truck? I hope you don't work in sales and marketing.
