First trip into Yellowstone with the Cybertruck. Traction and handling is incredible. It’s so smooth on both icy pavement and bumpy dirt roads. Efficiency was 337Wh/mi over a full 129 mile tour, even starting at 15° and snow covered roads the whole day. Blizzak tires, wheel covers on, going 35-45 most of the time. The reduced regen icon didn’t go away most of the day (occasionally it did), but still had the majority of regen power.

Only downside I need to fix is snow comes up through the gap underneath the tailgate.

It’s officially dirty now. Free hotel charging with a ChargePoint 30A is nice! The Rivian chargers open to all are supposed to open before the end the year in Gardiner.

Stock AT tires? I always see people posting that they suck in snow.

Second day had even better efficiency, with about 10° warmer temps throughout the day. Something changed with update 2024.39.15, so the cold battery snowflake never showed up all day.

I keep waiting for the "EVs don't work in the cold" crowd to show up. But I think you left them speechless. They know better than to push their BS here.

What blizzak tire size are you using? I am using the duratrac RTs, but not sure how they are going to perform. Heading to the mountain to ski on Christmas, so will find out then. But, blizzak I know handle well in the snow and ice.

Casino uses up less footprint than extractive industry. (My dad worked in self-governance. It's actually quite interesting.)

So my initial post was directly from the Tesla trip stats, which do not include energy usage while parked (which is significant on these trips). Here’s some updated stats, with a bit colder weather and passengers. This trip also includes 7 miles at 70 mph, which brought down the efficiency a bit at the end

Jan 13, 2025

Miles: 145
Temps: 8°F-22°F
Total Energy (drive + park): ~62kWh
Total Efficiency: 430 Wh/mi
Expected range: ~279 miles

Notes: Three passengers, Blizzak snow tires, no wheel covers, chill mode, comfort drive setting, auto lower enabled, cabin set to roughly 68° all day.
