The Gen 2 was capable of supporting up to 80 A charging from up to 4 HPWC on a single 100 A circuit. It had lugs big enough to accept No 3 (or maybe No. 2 - don't remember) and a charging cable capable of passing 80 A to a car (but it did get warm). It had a contactor capable of 80A and, most significantly, it communicated to the car that it could take up to 80A or less if it was commissioned for a smaller feeder or if there were multiple loads (more than 1 HPWC charging). Commissioning was by setting a small rotary switch.
How on earth did you quote me from an entirely different thread and not something I posted in either thread? lol.

By pasting the incorrect "[/QUOTE=...] block. I fixed it.

...it would probably be a good idea to make your home ready to accept any EV charger not just a tesla.
The problem is that any local EV incentives would be based on installing an EV charger, not "making your home ready" for one.

I'll start shopping electricians when Tesla calls me to start configuring my truck.

Couple of things. First off the wall connector is not a charger. Its a connection to the AC of the house. The charger is onboard the vehicle.

This may sound like semantics, but its not.
You're quibbling over terminology. That is literally the definition of "semantics"

So I have a Model S with the dual chargers (2015 85D) and have the wall connector that will run up to 80A (attached to a 100A circuit breaker: you should always run a lower load than what the breaker supports when it comes to EV charging). I can fully charge the S in less than 4 hours, but I will say this: the connector cable (from the connector to the car plug) gets mighty hot if you run it at a full 80A. As a result of this, I typically don't run it higher than 60A to keep the heat down (and hopefully extend the life of the wall connector) and I typically don't need the rate of charge the 80A offers, anyway.

It is, but we should do our best not to confuse newbies.

A DC charger, is a charger. It has a specific capacity and compatibility.
An AC charger is on board, so uses an EVSE, or level 2 charging station. It's a 'fancy outlet'.

Agreed that the term "charger" is ambiguous in this context, which is why I'm OK with its casual use.

DCFC = "Direct Current Fast Charge", what Tesla calls "Supercharging". Also "Level 3" charging.
EVSE = "Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment", supplying A/C current to the car's inverter. This is what homes have installed, but some public and Destination chargers are also EVSEs. Also known as "Level 2" charging with 240v, or "Level 1" with 120v.

Someone made a great point on the recent CT windshield thread. The trimmed corner could be for a new charging port up front, seeing that they removed door handles it would only make sense to remove the charging port door tooā€¦. ???

Do you think Tesla will release a GEN 4 Wall Connector for the Cybertruck due to the larger potential battery?

The Cybertruck will be my first EV and I donā€™t want to get the GEN 3 installed too early, just in case Tesla releases a bigger/better charger. If the battery is north of 150 kHw, it would take awhile to charge up a low battery. At 150 kHw, your looking somewhere around 13 hours. At 180kHw, your looking at 15.5 hours.

Thoughts?
I think Elon said on a joe rogan podcast that it is definitely not going to be 150 kWh battery pack. Itā€™ll be smaller then that. I could be wrong ? anybody else remember this?

Didnā€™t hear the Rogan interview, but the CT3 will almost certainly have a battery bigger than 150kWh. The CT2 and CT1 are both likely much smaller than that.

Iā€˜ve seen some estimates that suggest the CT3 pack might be as small as 177kWh up to 225kWh+.
