Glass roof. Solar panel slides under the glass roof, still charges when bed open. Not rolled up in floor.
Holy smokes! This is seriously a genius idea, not sure how affordable and feasible it would be but it seems more appropriate for the implementation of solar panels. You should seriously DM Elon about this, hopefully that gets his gears working.

I can't say I've ever wanted such a thing and I've hauled a lot of 4x8 sheets. If you have more than a couple sheets, you are going to need to tie it down regardless. So long as they keep the two tie-down points near the bed which were in the prototype it'll be just fine. A single ratchet straps is way more useful than a flip stop which would only keep 3-4 sheets secured.
That is true, but having the first 3 sheets kept from sliding around keeps the whole stack more stable, don't you think? I've carried a lot of wood and it seems to me that a stop is worth having.

Only way I can see having 8 foot as an advantage is for rainy days.
There's more rainy days on the my side of the mountains.

I think if someone is worried about a mid-gate having trouble carrying loose stuff... I ask why? I carry gravel and bricks in the back of my Mazda. You just need a skip of some sort. And if you're okay with the tail gate holding it in, why not the midgate?

I drove a flatbed for years and never lost a load.

I've seen lots of loads lost out the back of pickup trucks which weren't secured. I don't think a little 3" flip up stopper is going to make a huge deal one way or other, a strap is always going to work.

You use you Mazda, I've hauled lumber in my Model Y. You do what you need to to get the thing where you are going.

The bed/ vault is the big advantage of a truck. You don't need to or really want to use your cabin for hauling... that's the purpose of the bed. Particularly not for something like 4x8 sheets which are so trivial to load and unload with the tailgate down.

It would be better if the rear glass cover would slide up and over the rear glass roof instead of under. Doesn't reduce headroom in the cab and also doesn't matter how dirty it is. You can have solar on both the rear roof and rear vault cover.

True but if it protrudes above the end of the front glass/windshield then it’ll mess with the aerodynamics.

On the original prototype there were some perfect near floor level anchors which were A+.

But more tie down locations are always good.

That's where you put all the friends you've talked into helping you build the thing you are getting lumber for!

After reading through 8 pages of comments here, I will definitely be setting aside a dedicated budget for buying some Cybertrucks from Copart and IAAI for spare parts. There are clearly a LOT of people planning to buy a CT that have never owned a full size truck before (some have obiously never owned a mid-size truck either).

I would love to see a midgate on the CT, but I doubt it will happen. I see the rear window rolling down to be all-but-confirmed at this point because it has been mentioned that the vault can be climate controlled for the tent option, yet there are no vents in the vault. Having fold up rear seats with a flat floor is going to be awesome regardless. I can tell you that all of my trucks have folding rear seats in them. Some fold up (my 2000 Silverado 1500 and my 2020 Silverado 3500HD), others fold down (my 2003 Avalanche and my 2000 old body style 3500). Folding seats isn't a novelty, but specific interior design is worth of registering as has been mentioned. Heck, even my Suburbans over the years have had folding seats.

I'm convinced after spending the last 6 months on here that a majority of ct reservations are from non truck owners or larger SUV owners. At least on this forum it seems everyone really just wants a big ass metal SUV/rv and the CT is the first closest option to what they really want and are willing to settle for a square peg in a round hole but begging for the square peg to be turned into the round peg!

While I'm the curmudgeon who just wants the square peg initially presented..I find it rather amazing how the CT is somehow gonna fill this void for a huge range of people with vastly disparate desires and demands from one simple truck. If I were Tesla, and I spent some time on here out of boredom, I'd be drafting designs for the first ev version of a Chevy suburban and the first ev RV asap cause that's money to be had from the looks of it.

I don't think there is a bad/ wrong way to want a Cybertruck.

I've had trucks, vans, and SUVs and really can get by with any of the above so long as I can reasonably cram 6 people inside and get my bikes in the back.

I'm not worried about people turning it into an SUV, I'm worried about it becoming a toaster/ fridge. Something which does a few things both an SUV and a truck does, but neither well.
