Novel idea with a reasonable price tag.

-Will this product trickle charge the HV battery to help eliminate vampire drain if parked in the sun?

-Projected lifespan of your product, including wiring cables subject to UV exposure?

-Will the frunk still lift with the added weight?
NO, will not charge the truck, only portable batteries.

Suplier says 20+ years, we will warrantee for 2 years.

Yes, only weights a few lbs total.

Based on discussion thus far...I like CyberTruckCo's approach of CT-fitted power wrap but using a removable approach like magnets suggested by hemiarch. The ultimate for me is power wrap that rolls up/down over the bed that works on the move....phase 3. Phase 2 is over the glass area. What an exciting thread! Great job CTCo and look forward seeing what's next!

Yes, you could stick the solar panel to a magnet and then uses as needed. That said, I have had our magnet fly off the sides, frunk and tailgate when driving, so, not sure I would risk loosing this expensive panel.

Seems fair but most magnet concerns like that can be resolved with more/bigger magnets I think. Maybe even counter magnets more or less where people put frunk molle panels.
if you make the panel removable with some prying, you also have the potential of positioning it in the sunlight on as long of an mc4 cable as you want.
truck can be in the shade and panel can be in the sun.

Looks great! I really like that you can use it while driving. When parked, it could pair with the 400w solar blanket I have that fits over the windshield, glass roof, or tonneau cover locations. At the extreme end, could be possible to pair 3x400w solar blankets + 200w hood solar to get 1.4 kWh solar across the entire length of the truck.

When the Cybertruck FSD ever catches up to the SX3Y vehicles and becomes unsupervised, you could just leave a little gap for the windshield cams, and let the truck drive while covered in solar panels.

The problem with stainless is it's not great for magnetic attraction. I've used mag mount antennas over the years and have found that while I can make the mount stick to the frunk lid (flattest piece of steel on the vehicle, it's a pathetic force and not enough to drive with the antenna in place. Non-aluminum panels on the Y for example, grab with a clunk. The truck... not nearly as solid.

Even if you sandwich the stainless with two strong magnets? Say you put 8 x65lbs round magnets on the inside of the frunk lid. Four in each little square and then put 8 more on the outside with mounting screws on them physically attached to the panel. The inside ones would be VHB’d to the frunk lid as position markers. Thinking you would have a very difficult time trying to pull off the panel.

With respect to the over the glass part, I’d want something that capitalizes on the 4
Mounting points (I have heard two on the non-FS, not sure if that’s true).
A mechanism similar to tesla’s cross bars. Quick and easy to unclasp. You could then design some accessories like legs to make it into a solar gazebo type thing or a little prop to make a shaded area for your fridge and such. Again, away from the truck. Camp in the shade but farm energy in the sun.
If you made that panel clear backed or possibly even bifacial there might be benefit to be had for the shiny glass top but I suspect it would have to be high enough off the surface that it would have an aerodynamic cost and probably not be worth it. Clear
might look pretty cool from inside the cabin though. Think fisker.
Then for the last and probably largest surface, you could make a large panel that covers the whole bed and sail panels and hinges at the aero cover between the glass and vault. Perhaps it could telescope up like a trunk lid or camper or rooftop tent cover ? Long struts near the tailgate and shorter struts near the aero cover. This would allow you to open and access the bed while stationary but change the truck shape very little while moving.
you would then need some intelligent deflector/sealing type molding around the perimeter of the whole thing.
With part 3, the bed cover and part 2 the over the glass panel, the sky is the limit in terms of what you can do with them at camp because you have the mounting points. You could make them side awnings, kitchen roof, shower area, whatever.
But even when you put these back on the car after you’re done camping you’re still collecting juice every moment of sunshine. I believe the time of use eventually adds up.

If someone's ever interested in installing solar panels for charging vehicle purpose, this is the only effective way: https://www.dartsolar.com/
Mate, thanks for posting this. I am waiting for CT in Australia.

Particularly down here, an option to venture further from the main highways charging network and then have reasonable means to return is appealing.

A fuel generator would also help, but I like this idea. Maybe carry both.

I have left my details with them..

Hmmm, a magnet attached on the inside of the steel is an interesting idea. You can access the inner face in the frunk, but nowhere else that I can visualize at the moment. I might have to try that just to see how the field travels through the stainless. If it does adequately, maybe a piece of normal steel on the inside rather than a magnet would increase the attractive force enough too. I'll have to see what I have around here in the way of scraps to experiment with... ?

Saw this in person today! It looks very clean and rugged in person. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the post-apocalyptic cyber look and this fits right in while being extremely functional.

I'm all for it! Great work as usual CYBERTRUCKco.

Where are our magnetic wrap people? Can’t we just 3m vhb some super strong magnets to the panel and put that on the frunk lid?
Thank you for the suggestion!

We can test this solar panel product with our Frunk Magnetic Wrap. The double-sided adhesive should bond right to our magnetic sheet. You would be able to install the solar panel and then remove it whenever you need to! This would prevent messy adhesive goop from getting directly onto your stainless steel finish, and the ability to remove it can prevent vandalism to an expensive solar panel when leaving your Cybertruck parked in questionable areas.

I like this idea better than the small frunk lid, but wind noise mitigation would need to be addressed.
