100% Charge, What Does Your Truck Show in Range?

Right, not new but just seeing what others have seen on their CT. I bet Noone has seen anything near 340 at 100%

The range on the screen has nothing to do with driving habits. That's all the BMS. You ate talking about the predicted navigation range.

In all my trips I look on the energy graph and the 'projected range' for the last 30 miles if I'm questioning how it is going. I probably have 100K of road tripping experience at this point.

In January 2024, a full charge (100%) showed 324 miles of range.
Today, at 100%, it shows 293 miles.
The vehicle now has 25,000 miles.
Is this level of range reduction considered normal?

4-7% the first year and 1-3% each year after would roughly be within normal (and years 2-3 on the higher end). Batteries tend to degrade the quickest within the first 5-10k mi/12-18 months and then degrade at a much lower rate after that. Now there are tons of factors that go into all of this from temperatures, age, charging habits, what the battery is stored at, etc etc. But in the end, you should roughly expect 20% degradation at 8 years/100k. With about half of that in the first 2 years.

It would be outside of the norm to see more than that, but that isn't necessarily mean an issue. It could be treatment, it could be simple variance, could be temps, etc. Frankly with our chemistry of cells, calendar aging is a significant factor if holding charge above 55%. Tesla won't warranty unless you get above 30%, so until it gets significantly lower, there isn't anything that Tesla will do.

All that said, using the miles indicated is a very bad way to evaluate this. That relies on BMS data that has a lot of sway. You could full charge 5 times back to back and get a different number each time. It shouldn't be off more than 3-5%, but if your battery hasn't seen below 5% and above 97% a few times in a row... it'll be off some. Any of the services that track the data rely on BMS data, so grain of salt them too. They get close, but don't think it is the word of god. The only real way to evaluate is to full charge and then slowly discharge to zero... and track how much energy was used. This is what the old battery test did and even it had some inaccuracies before Tesla took the public facing test away.

That's how much he actually used to drive 61,000 miles. Like EPA MPG, actually mileage is affected by speed, load, wind, ect... 455 average is pretty darn good.

Yea mine is 411 it was 385 but I moved to Arkansas from FL. but that’s not what I ment, his estimators is showing 314 miles remaining at 100% charge. but his lifetime miles divided by his life time wh is showing a max range of 270. So something is wrong with his estimator by 44 miles roughly. His current drive sense charger is even worse.

just saying that estimate range should be a lot lower bc it does adapt or is supposed to adapt to your driving style.

I doubt the battery range estimator is based on how I drive. Maybe it's better because every day when I get home after work and I plug it in, I manually dial down the amps until it shows it will finish charging to my limit about an hour before I leave in the morning. So it usually charges at anywhere from 10 to 25 amps, and never sits after hitting 80 to 95% depending on whether it's cold out here in MN or not. That 455 average is also based on driving two winters and all last summer on those Duratracs too. I just switched back to the factory tires to try to get the summer out of them, maybe 7/32 left on those which I took off originally at 22k miles. By the way I put 40k on the Duratracs and they average 12/32 left on them.
