Are there any 12V aftermarket accessories you wish you could use on the CT, but can't because the truck uses a 48VDC system?

my 12v ViaAir air compressor - since it was expensive, can do > 120psi and I already own it. Plan on setting up the frunk 48v power leads with 12 v converter, etc - just lacking time and expertise, lol

I put a 200W USB C & A charger block in the center console. Anything I can power directly via USB C (digital mirror, radar detector) is all set and for anything under 30W that requires a cigarette lighter adapter I use a USB C to lighter adapter. The biggest annoyance was the tire compressor, since those are higher draw. I went with the 120V Craftsman V20, but it's definitely a light duty compressor and the huge tires mean it's struggling to raise even a few PSI. I'll be curious to see if the Tesla Air Compressor Ultra lives up to its name. A beefy frunk air compressor with a dedicated 12V battery charged from the 48V system would be nice. I'm not sure the 48V system would support the current draw directly. I blew fuses on my Model X with the 12V compressor on more than one occasion.

not any more! set up an small 12v agm cranking battery in the frunk, tray mounted to the 2 bolts on the passenger side in there. MPPT solar charge controller from the 48v system. Now I can run my winch as soon as someone good with metal makes a bumper that I can mount it in!

12V is available from the ODB port. Depends on how much amps you trying to draw. Light loads it works fine so far.

my 12v Viair air compressor - since it was expensive, can do > 120psi and I already own it. Plan on setting up the frunk 48v power leads with 12 v converter, etc - just lacking time and expertise, lol
Yeah, I contacted Viair to ask if they would consider offering a 48V version. Answer was no. :-( I hope they reconsider.

I am a bit disappointed that Tesla did not take this opportunity to create a standardized 48VDC automotive connector. My guess is they are not anticipating a need for 48V accessories. They expect USBC (up to 65W) and 120V (up to 2400W) to cover all the end-user needs.

12V is sub-optimal for high draw accessories like tire inflators. Get this 120V inflator, the Morrflate inflation hose system and don't look back. It positively kicks ass and puts those overly expensive 12V ViaAir inflators to shame! Fast and efficient.

That's an impressive pump. I already have one of these in my garage that I'll take with me on any road trip. I do love the 120V idea for an air compressor.

I would love to see a HomeLink system that works with the 48V architecture as an option.

48V to 12V converters are really popular. They are commonly used in golf carts.

The bigger question is probably devices that won't run on 18V, or specifically USB-C.
But then there's always the 120V plugs.
