59k Hepa Filter Upgrade and BioWeapon Mode

Had a Mobile Tech (great guy) who came out and installed my previously purchased Hepa filter and also enabled "Hepa" intakeAirFiltertype, he did say he added the Bioweapon Defense Mode but its currently not showing up. He said he would escalate to his Master tech and see why it's not. The car configuration now shows it as a Hepa and if I took the car into a SC it would read Hepa. He said he would keep me updated as to the status and assumed this would just be a software push/update at some point. He did push the same software package to my vehicle in hopes that might fix it, which I'm currently installing now. (Update- didn’t seem to fix it).

Either way the car is able to handle just fine the Hepa filter and he agreed the current filter (seen in photo below) is a cheap piece of junk. :D

What did they charge for the Hepa install + software update?

Great feedback...i was waiting for this info before buying.

@TarheelCT , how did you manage to get Mobile tech to come by and do the update?

From Tesla....

"Replace your Cybertruck HEPA Filter to prevent outside odors, pollen, industrial fallout, road dust and other particles from entering your cabin through the vents. Tesla recommends replacing these filters every two years".

Since I already had the filter I was to pay labor $15 but he gifted it since he didn’t get BWDF working. The invoice initially had $115 + tax, but that was assuming he supplied the HEPA.

Just selected service HEPA filter install. I mentioned in the notes I already had purchased.

Clearly, this is one of the easiest installs you can do, but I wanted to get the BWDM enabled so I made the appointment.

To bad we can't add this as a delivery add-on the time of purchase.

We need a new HePA filter as soon as we get it or its just best practice to change?
It's not needed, the Hepa Filter and bio defense hvac option were one of items removed from the premium models for the SAWD.

It would probably make more sense to use the provided cabin filter for 6 months or so, then replace.

Pardon my ignorance, but can someone explain the appeal of the HEPA filter? Is the benefit mainly for those with allergies, wildfire smoke, heavy traffic, etc., or is there a noticeable advantage for everyday driving? I

For me being in the south, the pollen is crazy so I’d like to at least filter out what I can while driving. Definitely not a necessity, but seeing the standard one, I can’t see it taking out much from the air. I guess it all comes down to what’s important to ya and where you wanna spend that 💵. 😃

Per Google:
The Tesla Cybertruck HEPA filtration system is highly effective, removing 99.97% of airborne particlesfrom the cabin air. Inspired by hospital and cleanroom filtration systems, it is designed to strip out fine dust, pollen, mold, bacteria, and smoke.

That's what I suspected. Same, pollen and ragweed are crazy here in Oklahoma. At one point I had to take allergy shots every week. I guess I have become immune to it now. Lol.

Remember the "good old days" when cars would just suck in all the leaves under the windshield cowl and blast the pieces into the occupants faces? WE DIDN'T FILTER OUR AIR, AND WE LIKED IT
