It's becoming pretty evident that Tesla really doesn't care nor places priority anymore on the Cybertruck. Had the sales matched the pre-orders, I feel like we would all be in a different boat; enjoying all the benefits that other models get.

1) FSD is fundamentally a joke - either gets uncomfortably close to other vehicles, curbing, keeps hugging either the left/right part of the lane (instead of being dead center), and/or runs the wipers dry on a sunny day. In some safety critical situations, it just turns into the wrong side of the road / divider.
2) No Actual Smart Summon - not even providing users with a dumb summon in the meantime until they can figure out how to implement ASS - I have a feeling this will never come and will be cancelled like Autopilot.
3) Cancelled Autopilot - Tesla completely gave up on their Autopilot venture for non-FSD users, which is huge given every Tesla to date used to have the basic Autopilot feature.
4) and now this: S and X will be getting an overhaul when it comes to the next revision of FSD. Thanks to their vehicles having a dedicated GPU, it will be using Unreal Engine moving forward to push the next generation of FSD Visualizations - similar to 10.10 software seen in the CyberCab. For the longest time, especially given the price of the Foundation Series, I thought the Cybertruck will at least share the same processor as the S and the X - not the 3 and Y. However, Grok just confirmed the Cybertruck only has 2 TFlops vs the dedicated GPU S and X have at 10 TFlops therefore it won't be able to ever run Unreal Engine.

If only the Cybertruck had sold well... none of us would be in this situation.

I just got back from a 1,000 mile road trip. FSD did over 99% of it. It went into the wrong lane once after exiting the freeway onto a two-way service road and slightly swiped a curb with its rear wheel once on a left turn. I reported both incidents.

On the way back, it exited on the two-way service road and got into the proper lane. Maybe it’s a coincidence, maybe they fix reported errors really quickly, but one thing we know for sure is that CT has its own FSD stack. It takes all of us to make it great, just like it took A LOT of sexy car drivers to make all of them great.

Don’t give up on CT. Don’t fail it, and don’t fail the rest of your brethren who drive one. It’ll get there if we all pitch in.

Got a reference for this? I just asked Grok and it said the CT has the same processing power as the Model S and Model Xs running HW4. And that none have "dedicated GPU"s.

I definitely haven't given up - I just completed a 9.5 hour drive each way from Vancouver to Banff. Still better and more relaxing than driving manual, however it definitely had its moments where I was clenching my ass from close calls, lol.

This is not in regards to the FSD hardware. It's in regards to the MCU using Ryzen processor. The 3, Y, and Cybertruck use a cpu based Ryzen SOC, however the S and the X use a Ryzen processor which also has a dedicated gpu. Grok, take it away:

While the visualization is cool, it is not why I bought the CT. FSD works great for me and I use it for 99% of my daily driving. Yeah, rarely it will drive over a median during a turn but the big tires take it like a champ :) . Tesla is still developing for the CT as evidenced by the release of the body armor but, you are right, it is slower and lower priority for them. Doesn't mean they have stopped. GPU is actually an easy (albeit costly) upgrade - wouldn't be surprised if it is offered to us in the future.

Disappointing that were getting left behind this early in the product cycle but FSD works well for me and the visualizations are still amazing.

It's important to note that while the extra discrete GPU in the Model S/X is more powerful, the other Ryzen APU-based vehicles still have an RDNA2-based GPU architecture, and are absolutely capable of running Unreal Engine.

I suspect that Tesla wants to release it first as a test bed to a small pool of vehicles before expanding it wider to the fleet, as they frequently do with new features. Elon is famously known for his stance on avoiding premature optimization before they know the final best approach, and the S/X gives them some breathing room to test it out before spending time optimizing it.

As you can imagine, for a screen that is always on, there are also power implications to running a higher-end graphics stack continuously.

Glad I own an S, X and Beast! IMO, they’re all great in their own way.

Some folks here firmly believe that the cybertruck is the end all, be all and greatest vehicle ever made. ā€œPost-purchase rationalization.ā€ It should be, at least in Tesla’s lineup, but in ways discussed here and others it just isn’t.

It’s just another unforced error, imo, this time in the basic conceptualization of what a ā€œflagshipā€ product should be. Elon built the truck that he wanted to build and I’ll say again I’m glad he did (no one else would have).

But, he’s not an average Joe and he’s not a truck guy. He’s also not even an ā€œaverageā€ car buyer. He’s also neurodivergent so he’s not wired like most of us. So he has a real blind spot about what regular folk expect in their flagship vehicle and the emotional expectations that they have.

And much to his detriment and Tesla’s no one can tell him when he’s making a mistake. Pobody’s nerfect.

I think this is a small thing that won’t ultimately matter. But it would be nice if we weren’t in the position to feel FOMO because the CT isn’t really the undisputed flagship in Tesla’s lineup in all respects.

I can understand the dread but we got to look at the big picture. Pandemic, inflation, tariff etc-people do not have money or disposable income. People love Cybertruck but angry that they can't afford it. I like Cybertruck, my early reservation still intact, long term T$LA holder and waiting for a smaller Cybertruck.
All luxury & high end vehicles sale dropped 46% in the US. Affordability is the biggest concern

That sucks. I am with you. The next gen FSD visualization definitely looks bad@$$ and I wish our "technology bandwagon" ,as Elon stated, could handle it.

I've been reporting the same lane issue at the same highway exit for 8 months. They've never fixed it. I'm convinced using the microphone to report an issue has zero effect.

Guess it doesn’t have enough cpu power to spell check.

Don’t really care about the visual upgrades. Only FSD. Truck still has the hardware to work. Don’t see why it wouldn’t improve. We still have the next gen tech.
