Besides performance speed , 0-60 IN 2.6 SEC for Cyberbeast and Tri motor and some other goods
is it worth spending the extra 30 grand for cyberbeast?
Is handling and steering and driving experience is different for cyberbeast vs AWD
Please help, I am torn

30k meaning you qualify for tax credit on black interior core wheel AWD? Maybe not.
If there are any FS Beasts with free supercharging, and you are planning on getting FSD, that could be worth considering. Esp if you wanted white and Cyber wheels.

Handling and steering is the same. Driving experience is different, more so in the snow and off roading. The AWD features physical Locking differentials while the beast is strictly software. Don’t think you’ll notice much of a difference if you dont do too much of that. Personally i would have gotten the beast but doubling my car payment wasnt a good idea at the time so i stuck with AWD. If you got the extra cash id say do it.

I have a FS AWD, but I've been lucky enough to test drive a Beast. If you want that launch burst of speed, the Beast really is a whole other animal. But they're closer than you probably think in reality.

Tesla reports 0-60 times on their performance models, including the Cyberbeast, with rollout subtracted. They DO NOT subtract rollout for other models, because doing so would show less of a gap. Makes great sense from a product differentiation and marketing perspective.

Rollout typically refers to a 1-foot rollout subtracted from the 0-60 mph time, which is a common practice in performance testing to account for the initial movement of the vehicle. This subtraction usually reduces the measured time by about 0.2 to 0.3 seconds, depending on the vehicle and testing conditions.

You can see this footnote on the Tesla Cybertruck page:
Tesla Cybertruck AWD VS Cyberbeast Screenshot 2025-06-25 at 11.17.47 AM

  • Cyberbeast: 0-60 mph in 2.6 seconds with rollout subtracted. This means the time excludes the 1-foot rollout, so it’s the time from when the vehicle has already moved 1 foot to reaching 60 mph.
  • AWD Cybertruck: 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds without rollout subtracted. This means the time includes the 1-foot rollout, so it’s the time from a complete standstill to reaching 60 mph.
If we do apples to apples:
  • Cyberbeast 0-60 mph Times
    • With rollout subtracted: 2.6 seconds (given).
    • Without rollout subtracted: To include rollout, we add the rollout time. Using the cited 0.3-second rollout from Car and Driver and other sources for the Cyberbeast: 2.6 seconds+0.3 seconds= 2.9 seconds
  • AWD Cybertruck 0-60 mph Times
    • Without rollout subtracted: 4.1 seconds (given).
    • With rollout subtracted: To exclude rollout, we subtract the rollout time. Since no specific rollout time is provided for the AWD Cybertruck, we use a typical value of 0.3 seconds (consistent with the Cyberbeast and common for high-performance EVs): 4.1 seconds−0.3 seconds=3.8 seconds
You can see why Tesla would rather list a 2.6 vs. 4.1 gap instead of a 2.6 vs. 3.8 gap - it looks like less of a $20K gap!

There are two other considerations as well.

1) Motor location - the Beast has the permanent magnet motor in the front, the AWD has it in the rear. This means that under regular driving conditions, the Beast is mostly front-wheel drive while the AWD is mostly rear-wheel drive.
  • Cybertruck Cyberbeast (Tri-Motor AWD):
    • Front: One Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), ~276 hp
    • Rear: Two AC Induction Motors (IM), ~284 hp each
    • Total: ~845 hp
  • Cybertruck AWD (Dual-Motor):
    • Front: One AC Induction Motor (IM), ~303 hp
    • Rear: One Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM), ~297 hp
    • Total: ~600 hp
2) The dashboard. Do you like the look of the perforated dash in the AWD or the Alcantara in the Beast?

I ultimately went with the AWD (and have no regrets, it's incredible), but when I give it to my daughter when she turns 16 in 7 years, I'll replace it with a Beast for myself ?

All you should really need to know is Kyle Conner's opinion on YouTube, numerous times stating the AWD is a FAR better daily driver if you can handle not having the faster vehicle. I'd recommend you watch his reviews on the Cybertruck. And remember when it comes to performance 0-60 in 4.1 (3.8 per the post above for apples to apples) is DAMN fast.

Also beast gives you the extra pulling power -

The best fun is putting three friends from my corvette club or couples - and tell them to put their heads back and tell them “try not to embarrass yourselves by letting out a little scream” like a little girl.

My 60 plus friends say “don’t be ridiculous” and then when I punch the pedal - they all let out a little surprise scream. I like to record their reaction, the initial blast of speed is crazier than in my 23’ Ferrari 296 with 880 hp.

The issue is build quality. All FS trucks are '24's and have different builds that the '25's. The '25s have many changes, including coated castings, better panel adhesives, new seals, a changed motor, much darker roof glass tint, and many other in-process changes that make them tighter, quieter and higher build quality, despite having come down in price. Watch the Out-Of-Spec Youtube series on their Cyberbeast (FS). They say they would NEVER buy a CB, made Tesla buy theirs back as a lemon, despite their intention to later purchase an AWD model.

My cyberbeast FS has been a wonderful car - no big problems - using my $2500 credit to have the cyber tent installed on July 1st. Very happy with my FS beastly.

I have a very early FS AWD, no issues and it's been great. The main reason I haven't upgraded to a Cyberbeast is because in almost all driving situations other than full throttle, the default mode on the AWD is RWD, while the Cyberbeast is FWD.

BTW, still the best vehicle I've ever owned. My '23 Model S Plaid has been relegated to the wife now lol (although she still prefers the Cybertruck over it too).

All that to say, you can't go wrong with either. You're going to be very happy soon!
