Seems like today was a bottom. We bounced off resistance all day long and are finishing at a high on significant volume.

if the price determines whether you buy 3 or 4 shares, absolutely try to get as many as you can.

If you can only buy the 3 shares, 100 or 120 makes no difference.

To clarify, when the share price hits $500, you have made $1200, and maybe lost 3 pizza's.

You have exactly $400 to invest. You could get 3 shares, or… you could put in a limit order near market, or you can put a limit order for $100.

In the first case, you have 3 shares.

In the second case, you have 0 shares but a lot of pizzas.

A week later, the SP is $140. You can put a limit order in and buy 2 shares, or you can put a limit order for $133 so you can get 3 shares….

Getting overly picky about entry price means you can miss an opportunity entirely.

exactly..

There is a case of waiting, putting aside an extra $80, and then use the $20 saved to buy an extra share.

But if the purpose is to save $5 ? That could mean holding zero shares. The celebration imo is to hold 3 shares not save.

I get it. I didn't think, at the time, about how tough it would be to go below $100/share. I've simplified into two different price points; both below todays close. I'll give it a few days to see what happens. I appreciate the ideas bandied about in this thread. At the end of the day it's on me to do great, screw up, or somewhere in between...

What the Hell kind of pizza are you buying for $100 per pie?

Tesla pricing has been ridiculously high for most of 2022. Musk has said as much.

He’s also pointed out they will be coming down in other calls. I’m not sure why people act like this is at all surprising. “They are losing pricing power!!”, sounds so much scarier than they are restoring prices they had 16 months ago. This past year was a gift to Tesla’s bottom line and never sustainable. If you paid attention, you knew this. Musk SAID it multiple times so even if you weren’t paying attention it was obvious.

But we still get chicken little.

This is from JUNE:

Even with their new lower prices Tesla has industry leading margins.
I think another thing to consider is Tesla doesn't post an MSRP (Manufactures SUGGESTED Retail Price). They set THE PRICE!!!. Because of that "the price" needs to fluctuate as the market changes. With the other OEM's they post the MSRP, but the actual price (THE PRICE) varies wildly. They set the MSRP high, then run promotions that make you think you're saving money. "$2500 off all Jeep Grand Cherokees the entire month of Flubember!!!" If they need to raise prices, they tone down or eliminate any offers. If they have high inventory, time for Toyotathon!!!

This is IMHO, why Telsa Prices seem to change more often than other OEM's.

Tesla did this in December. They could certainly run promotions at lower prices to pre-run a price reduction. They have also tossed in FSD discounts, Supercharger miles, or in China, insurance discounts.

They could certainly do this again, to get over temporary demand lulls or to pre-run a price drop.

Purchased 2 more last night.
At 90 now.
So if the price hits $850 tonight I'm good to go.

Has anyone seen any good earnings projections for 2023 incorporating the latest price drops?
