This is simply driver error. Pick anything he did wrong from the list:
  1. Driving too fast
  2. Distracted driving
  3. Panic turn
  4. Failure to actually brake hard enough
  5. Car in front stopped suddenly
  6. Steering over correction.
  7. Plain misjudgment of the whole situation
If the truck drove fine afterwards and braked fine, it was most likely driver error. A temporary software glitch resulting in low braking is unlikely, but possible. No airbags meant he was below the threshold to trigger them.

While it’s fun to create conspiracies, OP wants some sympathy and some way to shift the blame off of himself to feel better. He may not even realize he made a mistake which is frustrating to all of us who hit the wrong pedal or run a light we thought was green.

I’m sorry you wrecked your CT, OP. I hope you get it fixed and don’t have any more unplanned expenses like car crashes or pregnancies. My sympathies to you and your truck.
Look ALL. I hold a lot of TSLA stock. I’m a fanboy. I follow Tesla every day. I have an Cybertruck Rez. And yes there are so many trolls out there and so much BS.
But I’m very interested to see what the telematics and esp Tesla have to say. With drive by wire there is possibility for things to happen that were not possible mechanically before.
And for those overzealous fanboys, Tesla is not far from becoming one of ‘those big companies’. So I take these with a grain of salt but let’s not toss this guy out with the bath water so quick.

Exactly ... Since the vehicles don't even have brake by wire ... so a report of a total brake failure is sketchy at best ... this is tried and true technology.
I thought the Cybertruck had brake by wire. Only steer by wire??

How did you end up hitting the pole though? Surely you could’ve steered into a direction that wasn’t the pole. And you didn’t plan on driving in the direction of the pole. So how did that happen?
Maybe variable steering had him confused??

No brake by wire. Steer by wire. Regen braking + mechanical disc brakes.

Weighing in here - there was another owner who took his CT up a concrete ledge and destroyed some landscaping at some fancy Hollywood hotel. Did anyone determine the root cause of that? Wondering if it was the same - the guy tried the brakes but it failed?

There was speculation about the driver/owner being intoxicated but nothing conclusive. Not sure what logs/data was sent to Tesla to analyze.
No, the Hollywood thing wasn't a problem with the brakes, just like this issue isn't a problem with the brakes....just like every other person who claimed the accelerator took over or their brakes didn't work are full of it. He overshot his turn, was going too fast and likely never touched the brake until it was too late - if at all. This will be the same garbage we always see - the driver at fault. And don't expect to see the logs.

All the EV forums (not just Tesla) are full of paid fudsters doing everything they can to slow EV adoptions so it isn't just short sellers. Jury is still out on this one. This could be real but if I had to place an even bet, my money would be on he just took the turn too fast - people never want to take responsibility for their mistakes.
(I highlighted the part you chose to omit since it didn't support what you wanted to say)

So lets see, your premise is he bought a Cybertruck, crashed it, posted pictures here on this forum that few people even know about, to slow EV adoption? Really?
But the claim being made by some is that was the intention. Of course media will create FUD where ever they can, that's not even a question.
Well, in my case, you completely misrepresented the post. Quoted only the part that might support this assertion and omitted the rest. So I think it is quite reasonable to assume you invented the other "claims by some" as well. I have not seen anyone other than you suggest this.

Funny we haven't heard much from the original poster of the incident! No diagram, no data, no fault! Only his...

There were a bunch of posts replying in this thread showing remorse.

-Crissa
Remorse? Care to elaborate so we don’t have to review 19 pages of what will turn out to be obvious trolling?
