With my Model Y lease ending in a month I was out to the Tesla Center near me and looking at next options like another MY or, the quirky but useful Model X. Sitting on their show room floor was a Cybertruck all by itself with no one around, no ropes saying keep away just sitting there ...

After 4 years of anticipation I was kind of shocked to find I had zero interest in looking closer or even asking if test drives were or would be available. I really didn't even give it a second look. For me, it simply had lost it's luster and the reality of a brand new product with many bugs to be worked out just seems like too much work.

I'll stay with a Tesla as the last 3 years have taught me they are everything I want and need in a vehicle because they require so little attention. The Model Y drives quickly and reliably while moving my ass around the planet in worry free comfort. In another 3-5 years I might revisit the Cybertruck plus other BEV options and I might even leave that very mature 12/03/2019 reservation in place out of curiosity more than any real desire to own this beta test phase vehicle.

I'm going to move on with known good transportation and the Cybertruck slowly disappearing in my rear view mirror.

Adios amigos ...

Happy for you Aldente, you got to find the car that makes you happy and that you feel comfortable spending your money on. This is not a criticism but an observation, my experience was the opposite as yours, 4 years ago when the Cybertruck came out I thought it was a funny and weird looking truck that I actually did not like. 4 years later not only do I like it, but after seeing it in person I like it even more, and, taking into account the features that matter to me, aside from the broken promise of 500 miles of range, all the new technology and features that come with it that were not initially promised are what draw me to it (drive by wire, 4 wheel steering, 800 volt system, etc). I haven't owned a truck in 14 years so I'm looking forward to getting back to it. That being said, I'm comfortable spending the money right now and I'm also comfortable dealing with the quirks of a new Tesla model. One of the reasons I ordered the cyber beast is that hopefully by the end of the year they will have worked out most of the kinks. Let us know what you end up buying. For what it's worth, we own a model S and a model X, our model X has three rows but my wife's next model X is going to be a six-seater, we find it more comfortable and easier for the kids to move around in. Dm me if you have any questions

Having owned all Tesla models now, I always said it’s hard to like anything else when you own a Tesla. After driving the cybertruck for over 2 weeks now, I can’t drive any other Teslas now. My 2023 model S has not been touched since the arrival of the CT. ATV the end of the day, people should drive whatever makes them happy ??

Wow I've been waiting so long... Anticipating the moment .... Heart racing ... And here we are.

Some random nobody has publicly announced a decision they've made.

Thank you for finally letting me know. I can sleep well and finally take that vacation I've been wanting to take because my life is no longer on pause.

What is it that's been so appealing about the ?compared to the model s? Right height and smoothness?

For me everything! Steer by wire and 4 wheels turning ABSOLUTELY should be in any cars on the road. The ride is the smoothest I’ve ever experienced. The size and comfort is amazing. I understand not everyone likes bigger cars. My wife loved the drive but she felt she would never be able to park it. Not being worried about dents/ancratches is another thing I love about. Overall, an extremely fun and satisfying car to drive around .

I think a lot of people are moving on right now because the reality of the situation. I guess when that sets in, you need to bash the truck a little to make yourself justify it.

People are still trying to hold onto hope though, wishfully thinking that non-FS invites are a week away. The truth is Tesla is going to be lucky to deliver all the Cybertrucks right now by the second quarter, with the limited FS orders they have right now.

This ramp will be much slower than people realized, which makes sense. There is a lot of new things in this truck like 48-V architecture, steer-by-wire, and using 4680 cells in high capacity. Heck, the wheel cap covers slowed down deliveries and cause Tesla an issue. :p If you want a truck in 2024, most people are now realizing that it is FS or 2025.

The price also gets people angry, and I get that. If this was 2022, I couldn't have afforded the truck. My wife got a great job and now we have that luxury. I know a few people that were depending on this truck being $50,000 to buy it. One personal friend is now getting a Ford Maverick Hybrid because of the price and he knows how long the wait will be. I am lucky to have a low mortgage of $1600 a month with PITI and have a combined household salary of $200,000. I still probably don't make enough for this truck, but I am not endangering myself economically. But this is a stupid purchase and I am fully aware of this. I am also fortunate that my wife is on board and maybe is more excited than I am. Most people get a sports car for the mid-life crisis car, I am getting a Cybertruck.

Sorry but you'll be unprepared for coming zombie apocalypse and missing out on the fun of decapitating them with the Cybertruck sharp edges. :p
