Anyone know if a roof rack using the roof OEM bolts has to be removed to apply the fix? If it does I’m in trouble. 8 hour install. Same to remove.
Aftermarket or Tesla rack?
The rear of the top trim needs popped loose. I think this is still possible if the crossbars are removed and the mounts stay on.

No, it's a complete/full rack from CybertruckCo. The mounts are of course used and completely hidden by the components. If I have to fully remove, it's likely I won't re-install. A huge $$ loss for me.

If your mount is literally holding up the cant rail solidly, there's no chance for it to come off (do you mind sharing some pucs where your mount comes in contact with the Cant rail?). You may just request to defer the recall-repair for a later time?

The recall is for the side trim, not the top (photo is a piece that gets removed for access). So unless the rack overlaps the sides, it won't contain the problem piece.

My rack doesn't touch or overlap any portion of the cantrail. It does follow its line precisely and is about 3/16" from touching. I hope that will be enough for service to do their work. I may post some pics to clarify my anxiety.

Best way to be sure is message/email, or call service center with your concerns. Stop by if you live close enough; show them what you've got and they will be able to tell you.

Yes, all that recommend I run this by service/support are obviously correct. I'm not having any visible cantrail issues to date, but that doesn't mean down the road I won't. If it does end up I have to remove my rack, I will eventually begrudgingly do so. But my rack installation was no small feat. At least for me. Took probably 15 hours or more over several days in the winter while truck was garaged, and some help from the wife that was kinda "I told you so". I honestly can't see doing a near lengthy dissemble, then reversing and putting it back on. I don't use it all that much, so I could deal with it. The cost was nontrivial, and to just NOT return to useful service would be a shame. I'm no spring chicken, so that has a lot to do with my attitude and willingness to go thru a potential removal and reinstallation. I will know once service takes a look as many have said. Cheers.

8 hours? Took me an hour to install four Tesla OEM bars - and they simply key lock on an off now without any tools.

Like, there's more bolts on the truck rack but I do my Mazda in under 15 minutes now that I have it sized. It's the dialing it in and not knowing the process that takes time.

Bigger racks are more difficult, but they're also easier to maintain sizing on, in return. You just need a jig to lift them off whole.

Granted that was more of a struggle than it should have been, wouldn't a 2nd time go faster and easier with experience?

Hi fellow CT owners,

Not sure if I am the first customer to receive the newest cantrail trim replacement after the recall!!

Here is the story, my driver side cantrail trim piece was adjusted in April 2024, 1 month after I took delivery last year (yep, early adopter here). After that, the cantrail trim piece looks great on both sides, nice and evenly mounted. But I noticed a squeaking noise emanating from the driver side windshield to a point became very noticeable at every slight bump on paved road. Took my truck in for another service in July 2024, Tesla readjusted the driver side cantrail trim piece, the squeaking noise stopped, but a noticeable gap was formed between the driver side cantrail trim piece and the original joined spot. That gap had been growing, and the misalignment got worse, and I saw the weather strip has pulled back exposing the bolts.

Fast forward to 3/8/25, took my CT in for the Cybertent installation and to also address the cantrail issue, while the truck was in the service center, the nationwide recall news came out in Mid-March, the service center called me 2 days later stated that they had ordered the wrong part, and I waited 10 days for the "correct" cantrail trim to arrived. I finally picked up my truck yesterday after the serviceappointment, the cantrail trim does NOT look good at all, the gap got tiny bit smaller, but still looks very uneven and misaligned. Plus, a circular burned mark appeared on the base of the new trim piece (welding mark), I also found a patch of scratches on this brand new trim.

Please see below pictures, and judge yourself. Cosmetically, it looks horrible! However, I must say, the team at the service center was very nice, courteous and super communicative.

Questions to all of you: what would you do? Would you accept this "recall repair"?
