Anyone want to know what blocks a rear camera most commonly?

Water.

It was raining today and yep, a big drop was evidently hanging on it as I backed into the garage.
A little RainX wipe should solve water drops...

So I've been wondering about the dribble that will run down and show/stain the back of the cybertruck tailgate if a rear camera washer is used. Seems like this could be a real issue....

I wouldn't like to need to clean the whole tailgate constantly, simply to remove a center water dribble mark.

Upfront it's located below the stainless and so the dribbles don't matter.

where do you think the washer fluid on the front windshield is going to go? Down the hood and/or around the side quarter panels or panels above/around the door

Yea the location of the camera on the CT is problematic compared to other Teslas, the way water finds the path of least resistance and the way the tires kick up dust and dirt are an issue for the camera. Unlike other teslas that have great visibility out the mirror the CT has to have a functional camera out the back and my guess is the next version of the CT they will have the camera up high just above where the vault cover retracts in order to give a better overall view and keep it from getting dirt covered while allowing it to be washed with the washer.

That would be a nice convenience if it doesn't cost too much. I don't mind giving my rear camera a swipe with my microfiber before leaving but it would be better if I didn't have to.

I don't agree with those who think it's an absolute must as I can see enough even through a fouled camera to know what's going on behind me. Sure, I can't make out the model of vehicle in the rain, but I don't need to. If it's reasonably priced, and works well enough, I might get one because I'm on crap roads in crap weather over half the year.
$99 which isn't.bad

Looks like there is going to be an aftermarket option for the non-existent rear camera washer that should have been designed from the beginning.

From ClearVu’s Instagram reel, it looks like it will be activated when the front camera washer is activated.

It goes under the hood and down. While you can get some on other panels, for front windshields, it goes down where most wipers are stored.

My point is, windshield washer fluid can't leave a stain because it's going to hit body panels whether a rear washer is added or not. The liquid behaves differently at different speeds, and will wrap around the A pillar if you're on the highway.

Huh?
Not really sure why you say it can't leave a stain, but no matter.

How much windflow is there on the tailgate? If you are on a dusty road and use it, aren't you going to see the run-off straight down the tailgate?

I think a golden opportunity has been missed here by Tesla, they could’ve had the worlds smallest wiper on the vehicle with the worlds largest

I understand the vendor is working out the details.

Does rubber hose have to be used to supply the washer fluid or can PVC type of tubing
be used? (More durable, less likely to deteriorate then rubber)

My 2 Cents.

Yea I thought the same thing, some EFA or PVC, small elbow there, black would do it.
Although I think Tesla will be out with a factory version of this soon, to much of a safety issue as it stands.

Why do you think that it is a safety issue?

Before you answer, think of the number of panel vans, semis, people pulling trailers and other vehicles on the road without or blocked rear-view mirrors.
I drove a Class C motorhome for 10 years. Rear-view mirror worked perfectly fine (to see the inhabitants of the camper)
I even pull a boat in my Model Y, rear view mirror assures me that the boat is still there.

panel vans - large side view mirrors
semis - large side view mirrors and cameras
people pulling trailers - as you mentioned you can see your load in the mirror, people who tow trailers regularly have extendable side view mirrors
and other vehicles- see above

All of the examples above are people using the vehicle for something other than its primary purpose, and in those cases have added aftermarket solutions

The cybertrucks primary purpose is to move people from one place to another safely, and in the default configuration, no extra side mirrors or aftermarket cameras, the only way to see directly out the back is the camera, which is placed in a location that is prone to getting covered
