I think buoyancy was one of the design and engineering targets for team members.

All cars are bouyant. There is apparently a buoyancy test and the standards in China are harder and made the Model Y in China a little harder to engineer. Lessons learned there, applied here perhaps.

""Ding, dong, the passthrough (theory) is dead!

Joining the ranks of other obviously fantasy theories; no mirrors/just cameras, laser wipers.""

Along with sail storage, tailgate ramp, top light-bar, and unless something drastic happens, not sure if 240v is in the cards either.. hope I'm wrong. Now that I think of it, we haven't seen any provisioning for an air compressor connection either.. just one little hatch door inside the bed with barely enough room for a 120v or maybe a 30amp 120v rv plug.. blah.. dang it .. I'm getting depressed now..

So it seems like this is no longer the plan:

Maybe it's a good thing that it's not a unibody. Any accident would total out the car. Insurance would be through the roof. The way they seem to be building it looks like it would be easier to replace damaged panels instead of the whole thing.

Lol. Not disputing if he did or not, just surprised you didn't believe the CT would float, seeing that EM said it would months ago.

But seriously, when he announced the boat mode, my first thought was "there goes rhe midgate!". That thing would just make it sink.

I don't doubt the float, all vehicles have to float for a period of time. I just doubted a vehicle projected itself in water for a measurable amount of time is all. Pleasant? surprise. haha

if you look at the upper picture closer it is 304L stainless steel sheet attached to a steel frame work to make up the exoskeleton. . Why do I say steel frame work…..because the stainless can’t be stamp formed. It has always been designed with steel backing the bent stainless sheets.. The order of assembly is different than what is shown.
