From Wes Morrill, Cybertruck Lead Engineer plus Reliability, Test, and Analysis for all Tesla vehicles.

"We've been sharpening the pencil for Off-Road controls and that will come to the fleet in an OTA update. The Trimotor (video hero) is like off-roading in easy mode. The two dual-motor Baja trucks at the end also made it up. And it's doable without lockers, though takes more skill.
Yes these are the Factory AT tires."

That's badass!

Quite a challenge to keep it off of the rocks on the right side coming up. Better their Cybertruck than mine. Shows what manageable instant starting torque can do when traction is not so much of an issue like in sand.

Yea scary seeing the stainless that close to the rock.

I am still getting my CT in a week's time. I wonder if there will still be something left for me to test. :p

I would caution people from taking comments like this too seriously. Sure, its mostly driver skill, as most good challenges are, but it's far from common sense. People fail all the time because they were in over their head. It's rarely the fault of the vehicle, almost always a misread of the terrain and how to set yourself up for each difficult spot.

Here you can see a few examples of how quickly it can go wrong:

OK, I went from "I'm doing this the first week" to "Fuck that in the head".

Indeed, I found myself in some sticky wicket in what I thought was a safe shallow rut on a trail.

And in another all my 4 tires have chains and it was still coming down on a muddy road still going to where I don't want to go which is a deep ravine I would call eternity.

Probably would be even easier if the truck wasn't at max height so that there was a bit of wheel drop available, and then air down. Nobody that knows what they're doing goes rock crawling at full freeway pressure.

But then these guys were trying to tune the truck's software, so they may have been intentionally making conditions as bad as possible.

Pretty sure those tires were aired down, don't think they would have had the traction at 50PSI

Thank you for sharing this video. This prove how capable 4-wheeling the CT could be. I know Tesla team could use all the cameras with their AI mapping of the terrain and give the driver the best possible rout to navigate through the terrain like this. I hope the CT owners get it through future software updates. This only my assumption and speculation. It could be done with all the compute power. I am very excited and waiting for my CT.

Has anyone heard about time frame on Lockers and FSD release? It's been only 2 months but would be nice to know something.
I don't think there is any real info out there, but FSD is probably not close. I'd be surprised if FSD comes within 4-6 months of Autopilot. That will be the clue that we are heading that way, when Autopilot is activated.

After watching this it's crazy how fast the Cybertruck did it. It's also amazing how many people say it's easy and any car/truck can do it.

I think most current CT owners are looking forward to getting their wall chargers first lol. I've heard some complaints in person
