Cybertruck a flop?!?!

My complaint isn’t that it’s stripped down so much as that it’s not cheap enough. Not for what you get.
The glass half full folks on here say it shows what a great “value” the AWD is but I guess I’m a little more of an Eeyore than that.
I see it as about $15k overpriced to achieve the goal it’s meant to achieve.

True, but it still has the HFS body, 48V, SBW, 4WS, Powershare, etc. Still very much a CT and I’d take one in a heartbeat over any other truck on the market.

Those features cost money, but yeah I wish it was closer to 60K.

Just my opinion and from what feedback I get in my circles, it’s 99.9% the looks of the truck. You’d be surprised how much people will spend for aesthetics. I for one don’t think it’s mis-priced in comparison to “similar” capable trucks. I’m around a lot of $100k trucks and I don’t feel they hold a candle to the CT.
I tell everyone who asks about mine that once you get inside, you forget what the outside looks like.
Additionally, I believe I recall in the early day’s of planning of the CT, Musk mentioning he wanted something very different and wasn’t looking to beat the competition.
If Tesla were to make a truck that looks “normal” it would sell like crazy, regardless of the price. I for one, am cool with “not-normal” and agree that for the price the CT is the best overall vehicle ever made so far.

Elon knew even before the unveil that this truck was a little too far ahead of its time, and only a small percentage of the population would understand and embrace the full vision in the beginning.

I preface the next statement everytime I say it in public with "You're going to laugh when I say this, but ... you are looking at the next styling choice for every popular vehicle going forward for decades". And I still believe that, we just aren't seeing them yet. When full autonomy starts to scale, the vehicles will leap from status symbols to utilitarian machines that squeeze out every last ounce of efficiency. Look at any technology futurist film and that will be the model.

I also tell people that they are probably owning their last personal vehicle. And I get the same reaction every time "Huh! Over my dead body". Ok, well, when the insurance companies set your rate at $850 a month to manually drive when autonomy is calculably safer in every measure than you are, you will remember this moment and no longer be chuckling.

I don't think the polarizing styling is behind the sluggish sales numbers.

When revealed in 2019 reservation holders knew the production version would look pretty much like the concept. Over 1M people left a deposit. That's a crazy number that even surprised Tesla leadership.

The reason it's not selling in great volumes is simple. The premium price tag is keeping potential buyers away.

When the $49,900 AWD trim jumped to $100k for the FS series most reservation holders bailed and requested a refund. Even at the current $80k MSRP it's $30k more than anticipated.

Agreed ^^ just my opinion was all based on my echo chamber. Only Tesla Sales and Marketing will have the best data.
Doesn’t matter to me, I love the damn thing and think it’s worth every penny.

As already mentioned, it’s the price that cooled off demand. And EM’s unfortunate foray into politics has been an additional and significant hurdle. I have to talk about that guy every time someone talks about the truck.

Majority of owners that I’ve encountered and spoken to are overwhelmingly positive in their reviews.

I'm 79 YOA and a long time car buff. Owned many high end vehicles (Porche, Range Rover, Corvette, Defender, Lincoln, etc.). CT is my first EV. I like different things, so drawn to the CT, but not sure how I'd like it. I can honestly admit, it's the best damn car I've had and love driving it. So comfortable, so fast, so quiet, so smooth and the easiest steering I've ever experienced. I think it was so different and unusual, folks were afraid to make the leap. I don't think pricing was the issue since my Land Rover Defender was more money. Again, love my CT. Congrats Tesla.

This is easily the coolest car I've ever owned, and one of the best cars I've driven as well- and I work in the Exotic Car World. The only thing that makes it a flop is that Tesla wasn't able to sell 250,000 units of a niche $100,000 truck. A miscalculation on their part that I'm personally all good with, as it makes the car more of an exotic Rarity.

100%. You can not escape the no maintenance exterior AND the stamped frame. these efficiencies in manufacturing will eventually drive costs so low people can't afford the antiquated manufacturing (steel, paint, along with all the other efficiences of 48V and ethernet).

The list of positives is endless. You won't find a more quiet, comfortable, truck on the market at any price. Would do it again in a heartbeat.

Tesla should make a shorter SUV version of the Cybertruck.
Like Rivian did with the R1S who is more popular now than the R1T.

Making a more practical and family oriented would certainly increase the sales of the Cybertruck.

I would like to give a shout out to Tesla, the team that engineered and built it and Elon Musk for making it all happen. The Cybertruck is absolutely the most amazing vehicle that I've ever driven (and I've driven some really cool vehicles). When people ask I tell them, "It handles like a sports car, rides better (and is quieter) than my Escalade, accelerates like a super car and does it all on all terrain tires!" What's not to love?!?!

I've had my CyberBeast for a year and a half now and it's my second EV ever (my first was a Hummer EV edition 1). Cybertuck is the clear winner here as the steering and handling (and acceleration) FAR surpasses the Hummer on the road. The electronics are also VASTLY superior as is the ability to drive itself. I'm glad that I don't have to worry about paint and shopping carts, tree branches or anything else that might scratch my paint. BTW, I've only ever sprayed my truck off at the car wash 2 times since I've owned it (that's the extent of me washing my truck), the rain washes it off more than anything.

I DO NOT like to hear all of the negativity that the CT gets and don't think it's fair. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY TRUCK and if I wrecked it and had a total loss, I'd buy another one just like it in a half of a second!

To all of the people that flip me off, throw s*** at me, scream derogatory names at me, ect... I drive a vehicle that is (for me) VASTLY superior to whatever the hell it is that YOU drive. Perhaps you should consider the possibility that you're just obtuse and follow the sheeple that listen to fake news. Why don't you take a drive in a Cybertruck and then you'll have a better position to make claims about it.

Grow up. People are afraid of change (not me) and there is something on the horizon that is better than what we're accustomed to. Embrace it, you won't be disappointed.
