500 miles is needed to make the Cybertruck comparable to ICE trucks when towing. Anything less will make it as useless as the Lightning.
The Lightning by most accounts is a great truck. It’s range, cargo capacity, and charge rate could be better but no none can say it is crap.

Having to change after 88 miles of towing is, in fact, crap

WT was never coming to avg consumer though?

the average consumer version, with max range, was slated for $107K MSRP

I don't think you are crazy to want what was listed at the announcement event in 2019, I just think Tesla prioritizes production efficiency over everything else and that there is a high probability that batteries are going to be an initial restraint until they reach scale and efficiency on their 4680 line.
Elon would be the idiot of the century to try to ā€˜sell’ a tri-motor with a 300-mile range as something special. He ā€˜has’ done done monumentally stupid things, but never with Tesla. I hope he won’t start next month because the stock is already taking a hit.

Actually we've only seen evidence that the tri will be 500+ miles from the launch event. It's only been noise that says less than that. Maybe the employee didn't think of the S and it's range. Maybe he used an X as the comparison because it's the current largest Tesla.
I am willing to accept the possibility that only a dual/tri motor with a single pack will be released initially - as long as Tesla says there will still be a 500-mile dual/tri within a year. But who knows …

2 motor standard = 3XX mile range
3 motor standard = 3XX
3 motor performance = <3XX
4 motor plaid = ??? mile range (not available at this time)

again, you're thinking of this in terms of motors first, product second

the produce is a Cybertruck. One can pay to have a 'performance' version (which incidentally has 3 motors to achieve that performance)

Just like there's a "Model S", and one can pay to have a 'performance' version (which incidentally has 3 motors to achieve that performance)
It’s hard to imagine someone wanting acceleration over range, but whatever floats your boat.

I mean

Model S Plaid is a thing?

besides, suggesting it’s an choice is to assume both choices are possible (at present)

I desperately wanted 500 miles of range, that is why I reserved a Tri Motor back in November 2019.

4 years later, I still would like it, but I realize the industry (Tesla) has not advanced battery density and efficiency enough to provide it with out making the Cybertruck super heavy by stacking and jamming it that massive battery. Which also would push the price up even more, maybe another $8-$10,000.

Sigh, so I am expecting about 350 miles of range....
You have to know that Tesla knew for a fact that they could build a 500-mile Cybertruck ā€˜when’ they announced it (I.e., with 18650 or 2170 cells), so if they are only building a 300-mile Cybertruck right now it is by choice.

I would like to make it clear that given the larger pack size on the CT, the battery peak power output is no longer the limiting factor to install a third motor.

Unlike previously, in smaller pack and more efficient Tesla vehicles, the CT already has a "larger pack" than any other Tesla, because it also has a higher consumption, than any other Tesla, and needs a larger pack to achieve even the base 300mile range.

Has anyone noticed how "big" the CT is in comparison to other Teslas? Well that needs a bigger pack to get the same range than a smaller one, which in turn means it has enough for peak.
