Elon must be getting rather impatient with government regulators about now. The second full stack Starship is sitting on the pad ready to fly and it looks like it will be 6 more weeks before FAA gives it a launch license. Sorry to be a little OT, but Elon seems to have so many problems with government regulators.
SpaceX assploding their own launch pad and causing property damage 5 miles from the launch site does indicate that SpaceX isn't capable of self-regulating.in terms.of safety. After that bit of recklessness (the results of which were so widely foreseen that I heard about without trying), I'd expect the FAA to be actively regulating them for a while.

Same with X/Twitter. At X/Twitter, Elon is actively disregarding laws, consent decrees, contracts, and regulations. There's some lag while the regulators consider their actions, but X/Twitter won't win that fight in the long run.

The Lightning may look like any other F150 on the outside, on the inside, it is not. It's more like the Model 3 in technology level. Ford changed the entire suspension system and frame to fit around the batteries and motor instead of vice versa.

That's the thing being not in the lead: You can watch, see what worked, what problems cropped up. And hopefully, make jumps that were just incremental guesses for the leader.

I definitely recommend anyone who'a interested in EV pickup trucks to go drive the Lightning.

It's the truck to beat at the moment.

The 2022 Lightning doesn't fit my needs or budget, but it is my favorite F150 ever and it's the truck Tesla needs to beat.

I respect the Lightning, and it's worth the time to test-drive it just to get a taste of the EV future.

P.S. Driving the Model Y and the Lightning back-to-back is even better.

Yes, Ford watched the Tesla 2019 event, and said “2021, we can beat that” They went from paper napkin drawing at a party to driving on the road! All while Tesla still sitting with their thumb in their @$$ worrying about all the “X’s” Grimes, “X”, Space X etc?!
I wouldn't say that Tesla was "sitting with their thumb in their @$$..." The Cybertruck required a new production technique that was never done before. It takes time to get all of that setup. Oh yeah, they had to construct a new Gigafactory also where it would be built. There's that...

Sadly, you are right.

What damage? Dust?

That's the thing about these rumors. They get really weird.

The cameras and car that were damaged were across the road from the launch pad. Not five miles away. And dust from agriculture and industry sometimes goes miles, too.

I am a SpaceX fan but I can also acknowledge that the debris field (and by definition damage) from the launch pad, not to mention the launch vehicle, was large. It is a fact that the SpaceX launch pad was dramatically different than those at KSC and probably should have been tested more thoroughly. Anyway, I think that more FAA and NASA oversight cannot hurt until this launch pad is proven to be effective and safe.

I'm very curious, what are your thoughts after driving them back to back?

I drive them back to back weekly. My wife and I both take the Lightning as first option since it is in everyway a better drive other then efficiency. Smoother, quieter, almost as quick when needed. So easy to drive and easiest vehicle to park with the sensors and birds eye view. No struggles at all in tight parking places.

As to off-road capability, that's a big red-herring in my book. Most Rivian owners are afraid to do any real off-roading. And the fact of the matter is, most "off-roading" (as practiced by actual truck owners) consists of dirt/gravel roads or maybe a sandy beach or desert track.
all of which can be expected equally of CT owners

and towing performance

and several other factors

it’s painfully obvious when you conveniently code-switch between “X is a differentiator that makes the CT awesome” and “same X is a read herring that doesn’t really matter to buyers of non-CT”

I am sure the CT will drive as good or better then the Lightning. The MY vs the Lightning is not a fair comparison because of the weight, tire size and air volume smooths the ride out so much.

I do hope Tesla starts using birds eye. I truly love that view.

Edit: I also think M3 Highland has improved suspension, and improved noise reduction with windows/glass upgrades which will vastly improve the ride quality. These should come over to Y when it is updated.

I hope so, as well. I have seen YouTube videos about birds eye view and seems to be a very cool (and helpful) feature.

I understand that the M3+ (according to European reviews) received a better suspension. I would assume that JuniperBerry (or, the MY+Gin) would bring the same improvement to the MY.

Our BMW X5e has the birds eye view, and I've had a bunch of rentals that have it. Done right, it is amazing. Done wrong, it sucks.
