So greggertruck was agreeing with cvalue13’s last diagram of the frunk in blue. That is a shallow frunk, stopping before the front edge of the windshield.

Would someone with more precise chickens estimate how that volume compares with the frunk on a M3 or MY? It looks small, but CT is big, so maybe it’s relatively small and absolutely large. Thanks

Good stuff, however I don't get why you curved the firewall so much? Looks like it's just about vertical.

I also agree with @JBee that it should be a bit more rearward as it appears, from the above photo, to line up pretty well with the forward edge of the side body stamping:

Just some minor nitpicking, this is the shape of the front quarter panel:

Not quite. The fender flare is ON the quarter panel, not suspended below it.

No doubt, and not to discount them.

nor to skip over whatever ‘skid plate’ structures form the underbody - yet to be seen/determined
... or that structural battery pack

Hey, I was thinking about the Frunk. We don't use the Frunk in the MY very often. It's just too easy to toss things in the back and my wife backs into the garage (easier to charge AND, when my next daughter starts driving, she can pull in to the right and both hers and my wife's drivers door will share a common pathway so it can be wider than if they both pulled in and had to have their own paths.)

Anyway, in the CT, it'll be easier to put things in the Frunk than in the bed. This will be especially true if you are carrying anything big in there and can't get to the Under Bed Storage... I just hope the CT doesn't feel like I'm going to dent the hood when I close it... It took us a week to order a powered frunk kit for the MY. LOL

course I not have have anything more than “bigger than a breadbox, smaller than a bus” sort of dimensions on the CT Frunk, least of all the height

but for sh*ts and giggles:

On width of the CT Frunk:

• let’s say the narrowest constraint/pinch point is that of the Lightning, so 31”, but with some “wings” of extra width up to 39”

On the height of the CT Frunk:

• let’s again just assume a comp of the Lightning frunk, so 15” high at highest

On the length of the CT Frunk nose to back wall:

• just eyeballing my sketches, let’s say the stainless nose to ~back of Frunk length is roughly the same as the length of the radius from the tire to the hub (the yellow arrows below are the same length)

• since the CT’s tires are ~35”, that puts the radius at -18”

This gets us to a (totally made up) CT Frunk floor of 31”-39” wide, by 18”length, and 15” depth

Compared to some model Y Frunk measurements I found (below), that would mean the CT Frunk has a good bit more width, length, and height, compared to the Model Y

In all, considerably larger volume than a Model Y

in reality?

I’d expect that like the Model Y shown above and the Lightning (shown below) there’ll be various contours and pockets that mean it’s usable dimensions will vary at different heights/locations of the frunk

EDIT TO ADD: Model Y volume is 177 liters, Lightning is 400 liters

safe to assume CT volume will be well more than model Y

Let’s not get apples and oranges here. What I got from this is that the CT will be able to produce eggs.
I'm guessing there will be some easter eggs yes.

As the post stated the outline was to indicate the shape of the front quarter panel not the exact surface area, obviously part of it is covered by the fender flare. What was not quite right was the firewall. I had the shape right as it is vertical not slanted but @cvalue13 had the correct starting location.

Thanks C. So I can picture easily based on our Lightning Frunks, total volume is less by what % IYO? Sure hope it is powered also.

really no clue!

but I think about it more in terms of outer boundaries of belief: based on what we now know and inferences from there - i would be less shocked to find the CT is 50% smaller, than I would be to find it’s about equal.

which for myself has always been the point of these “measuring” exercises - it’s obviously not to attempt to predict the measuring tape location, so much as to exclude outlying possibilities.

in this instance, eg, some people previously thought the Frunk would be 2X the Lightning volume.

I suspect the 3mm will have a far more robust feel to it!

that said, will be interesting to see if Tesla ventures into powered hoods

I don't think I've seen those pictures before. Kudos.
If you get by Omaha, I'll buy you a beer. Or two. I mean, great analysis work.
