I get that the Cybertruck is fast and such but what I do not understand being a older guy is why is being so fast in 1/8 or 1/4 mile such a big deal to some. I have a Ford Mavrick Hybrid that I got in Mar 24 and love it. The price was great (under 30K) and the MPG is in the 49-50 range and has more bells and whistles than I need. Of course my Mavrick and me would be left in the dust at any race type track. But I do not have enough fingers and toes to count how many times a Cybertruck or Telsa EV has passed me on the general roadway just for me to catch up to them at the next red light. I am in Austin, TX and the Gigafactory is about 35 miles from me so I do see a fair share of CT's on the road here. Just never understood why zoom off a red light just to have to stop at the next light as it goes red. Again call me a Grampa driver but I am proud of never a ticket or accident (even minor) in my 45+ years of driving. I got nothing bad to say on pretty much any car or truck as if that is what the buyer likes, that is all that counts. As for the cybertruck I built a similar one with Tinker Toys when I was 5 or 6 but of course it was just wood sticks and such. But it had the lines like the CT lines to a point and kids have been building toy cars with angles for ages (pre computer of course) in the 50's and 60's. Again enjoy your truck just remember to drive careful when on the road and be considerate to others.

I wonder if it's a hard wired "Predator and Prey" instinct. I have to admit that I suffer from it. There's something very gratifying about knowing that you can pretty much spank any "Tough Guy" out there showing off his pride and joy (bonus points if his girl is with em). The difference now-a-days is that people are sore losers and want to fight, throw shit at you, report you to the police, mess with you, etc... I remember when you won (or lost) a race you'd give the other guy a thumbs up or better yet become friends. I personally think that it's all of the spoiled, rotten kids that I saw growing up that are adults now.

Or perhaps I need to grow up and act like an adult. <--- Prolly this.

Same as someone saying what’s the big deal about roller coaster, or paragliding, or even sex ?. The dopamine kick from instant acceleration is thrilling and addictive. It’s not about being first, at least on normal roads. If nobody is on the road, someone might launch more.

Driving Beast for me is like riding a Motorcycle in a Tank! No other vehicle on the planet can give me this experience while being so quiet and safe!

Just the entertainment value.
I had a Tacoma stick shift before this because I enjoy the entertainment of driving and stick shifts generally are more fun.
I tell everyone if you want the truck to drive for you get an AWD. If you want to have fun carving back roads and jumping off the line then get a CyberBeast.

Some of us just enjoy the driving *shrug*.

It was a full house tonight at a new 1/8 mile drag strip. There were lots of souped up Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, Challengers, and Chargers as well as a group of guys in Lambos and a group of guys on bikes.

Absolutely everyone refused to get on the line with me. No doubt some of the cars could’ve given the Beast a run for its money, but we’ll never know for sure.

I spent the night doing solo runs with a Dragy DRG70C (and giving rides to a few people who weren’t totally closed-minded).

Here’s the best run (all others were very comparable - 2.5/2.6 0-60s and 6.9/7.1 eighth miles):

I’m pretty happy with those numbers, but half the fun of a track day is actually racing and talking cars with the other racers. The Lambo guys did talk to me, but declined my challenge on the strip.

Why? Don’t know. It could have been that they watched too much Carwow and didn’t feel like they could hang with the Beast, or it could have been that they were shunning EVs out of the car world for as long as possible. Your guess is as good as mine, but the whole experience was pretty disappointing aside from the Beast’s performance.
6.89? Sweet! Best I got on 1/8 in my Beast was 6.99.
I just did solo passes, didn’t want to make the project car people feel inferior because they put their heart in soul into something vs me just buying.

Are you woke or something?

Feel inferior? I always thought racing (of any kind) was to see who was faster. That said, drag racing never appealed to me because it was mostly about the machine you had, I was always more into road racing, where only the most skilled drivers/riders had a chance of winning.

Nice replies and thanks for not being nasty on my post. I am glad you all love your CT and wish you the best. As I said if it makes you happy than that is what counts. I grew up mid western and my dad instilled in me to be careful when driving and such. Just never understood the zoom off a red when you most likely know if you drive the same roads that in a light or two it will be red and you got to stop.

Have a good day and be safe and if you ever are on the side of me and zoom off and I catch up at the next red light I will not do or mouth anything bad. Maybe I will remember to wave "hi" which I do sometimes.

But I like my little truck and it does what we need and gets me from point "A" to point "B" pretty good and safe.

Don’t feel bad, they are inferior if all we’re testing is getting from a start line to a finish line in the least amount of time. But of course there’s a lot to be said for putting blood, sweat and tears into building and tuning your own engine. If they did it all themselves and get pretty close to the Beast’s time, that’ll have to be enough for them.

I would like to say the same thing except I would fill in Altima, Charger, Civic, Camry, G8, Chrysler 300 etc......usually with tape holding on a fender or missing altogether body pieces.
You can't seriously say it's only Cybertrucks or Teslas that exhibit this behavior on the roads.

My relative also has a Mav hybrid, early build. She likes it, but I think she told me she had 9 return-to-dealer recalls so far (wire harness, hood fire risk, etc). I do like the body style of the Maverick.

unless you are modding your CT, once they've raced one they've raced them all. What's the point really?

Also if people are spending time to upgrade their cars to race, that's what they care about and the race is just the number at the end.

Kinda like a local business meeting where people are discussing strategies to improve profits etc then a trust fundie comes in and just brags about how much money they have.

The only "skill" in drag racing a CT is reaction time right?

From what I know there have been 4 recalls for the Mavrick since '22. From what I read that is like standard now for cars and trucks that are more new. And same with the other vehicles also on the red light quick zooms, as many other makes/models try and do the same thing. Did not mean to mean only CT's and Ev's do it. I like my Hybrid and it uses the Electric motors about 1/4-1/3 of the time for the way I drive and the places I go so gas is sipping and normally all I need to do for a fill up each week is about 4-6 gallons at most. My Mavrick seems to kick in the ICE at around 30MPH. Then of course goes electric at the red light and is silent. So I think I got the best of both worlds for my needs.

Yeah, I’ll readily admit that, but it’s still fun. An EV launch feels very different than a gas car launch. Even the fastest gas car doesn’t come close to the instant torque of an EV. The feeling is similar to a roller coaster that takes off to top speed from the start (like Mr. Freeze for my Texans).
