To be fair, it also is covered the front of the frunk. I'm not sure what the expectation is here.

As someone who lives in the Northeast, I've had plenty of times where snow or ice in certain conditions has covered my headlights on every vehicle I've ever owned.
Ditto. Jeep. Mustang. Tempo. Intrepid.

This will be fixed in an OTA update.
Hear me out, OTA update changes the LED controllers so they can operate inefficiently in the cold...
(I have no idea if that's a thing).

Actual solution may be some sort of resistance heating strip below the lights on top of the bumper.

They should just move the phone charger to behind the headlights
Okay, I laughed pretty hard at this one. You aren't kidding. That phone charger can warm up the entire cabin on its own.

had the same problem during our current snow storm. the horizontal light bar is not the headlight. The headlights are located just above the front bumper which has a lip collecting snow. had to get out a couple times to clear the snow to see the road.

other than that the truck performed flawlessly on the snowy/icy roads!

How does the windshield blade works with snow and ice?

I find it incredibly hard to believe that Wes and the rest of the team didn’t run into this issue in all of their winter testing

Can one of you guys post this on X and tag Wes?
There is a Tesla engineering office in MN and I can say that I did see the CT around last winter. When you are in a large metro area there are plenty of lights to see the road there are so many people that forget to turn them on. I see those lights in weather more of a device for others to see you vs you seeing the road. Also, anyone that turns on high beams in snow knows it's stupid, you can see better with low light output.

I can see someone making a 48V solution that will add a heating solution to melt away snow and ice that you just turn on in the mods/outlets menu.

??‍♂snowiest city in America?

Buffalo averaged 89” annually between 1991 to 2020. Park City, UT averages 287”. Even Syracuse averages 128” according to my inquiry.

I’m afraid you may not know what “snowiest” actually looks like. We’ve had about 35” in northern NM this past week … and the average there is only about 150” annually so this would be like 1/3 of Buffalo’s snow totals in less than a week.

So I dare say that you might have no idea what some other people encounter on their local roads in fierce snow conditions.

Having driven hundreds of thousands of miles in heavy snow I can assure you that modern cars get their headlights iced up and even some older ones too. You just have to carry around deicing fluid and a scraper to poke it off.
I had them in it-never-rain (nor snow) in Southern California up Victorville.

What I remember happening to me last spring was that it started packing into the space below the blade and above the blade and you need to turn it off for the chunk to push over the top but I think the chunk on the edge of the windshield just gets built up. I also believe it started icing on the blade but maybe I didn’t use the right settings to warm it. Still not sure what all of these buttons do … ?‍♂

Heavy blowing snow and slush froze over my headlight bar last night. It was very difficult for me to see while driving. Turning on the brights had no effect.

I turned on my hazards and followed the road's tire tracks *very slowly* to get home.

Anyone else experience this? What's the solution?
I carry de-icer, need it for windows sometimes too.

I wonder if you could make some heated lenses for using in snow? They could protrude and be more easily replaced if they hit something.

There are heated lights like those on snow plows. I think that would be the way to go.
