Does your CT/App have the option for PowerShare backup? Mine doesn’t, but my CT version and app version are up to date. Sounds like at some point they will push it?
It's a multi-step process. I may have some of this wrong, but from my experience so far, you need to:

1. Set up the Gateway and UWC together in one installation using the Tesla One app and confirm that with the CT plugged in and charging, you see (in the Tesla One app) icons with connecting lines between the grid, home, UWC and CT.

2. In the main Tesla app, with the CT connected to the UWC, open up the page for your CT and next to the battery percentage at the top of the page, look for a green lightning bolt with arrows going left and right (looks sort of like an "S"), rather than just a lightning bolt. I didn't see this until everything else in my setup was right.

3. Wait. This is the step I'm at. Tesla has confirmed by phone (877-961-7652) that my VIN has not been processed for into the Powershare system yet, but that they are "working through the backlog." Once my VIN has been entered, I should be greeted by something in the CT or in the app that leads me through the rest of the setup process and then it should work.

By the way, I *did* receive an email telling me "Get started with your Powerwall" but apparently that doesn't mean that my VIN has been processed yet so I still have to wait.

Thank you! Looks like I’m on #3 as well.

What I’ve read, and not sure if true, is that pictures get sent back to Tesla from the installer and then they activate when confirming accurate install. I’m not sure if this also means city inspector approval too, or not.

If this is true, it may be awhile for me because I don’t think they’ve installed it right to actually back anything up.

Does yours have more breakers added to the Gateway panel (relocated from original panel), or do you have the lines running from the bottom to “External Backup Circuits?”

Awesome! Those screenshots look great!

I assumed the same thing because of the "1 Form Remaining" message in the Tesla One app, but no one has mentioned this requirement.

I chose to move four circuits over to the four 240V breaker spots in the Gateway (two sub-panels, one AC and an oven/microwave). I can keep that load under 6kW. I left everything else in the main load center. My EVPE and EVSE connect through one of the sub-panels, which is why I had four slots available instead of three.

I don’t have faith in my install, so confirming. For your install, did they do this, which is what they did for me:

1. Left main line into old breaker box
2. Added a dual 60amp in the old breaker box and ran to input of the gateway.
3. Added dual 60amp in gateway and run line to Universal charger

For moving circuits to the gateway, it’s not that I can only pick breakers that add up to 60, right? I can do more, but the total usage load has to be under 11.3kw?

AC alone is a 50amp, but it looks like it pulls 2-3kw/hr.

Am I understanding this right? I’m trying to decide what to move. Looks like 6 single slots left.

Thanks!

Right now they have everything backed up from original breaker box panel, which I don’t want because it’ll require me to manually flip switches because the truck can’t supply my whole home.
Out of curiosity, why don’t you like this option of full backup? Risk of overloading?

Isn’t it the most flexible? For example, AC will take up 2 of my remaining slots. I may not want AC if it’s winter, but would if summer, so this flexibility of picking whatever I want seem intriguing.

With only 6 slots, and AC eating 2 and oven/microwave eating 2, that only leaves 2 circuits of lights/outlets/other left.

I’m trying to decide what to have them do. They want to come back tomorrow.

It looks like you are missing a connection on the right most green female. I’ll post a pic of mine which was just installed when I get back home.
It seems those two wires

Because my home uses more power than the truck can output, and so every time there is an outage, I’ll have to go out and physically flip breakers on the outside of my home to prevent tripping them when I enable power sharing. I don’t want to have to intervene. Especially in a hurricane like scenario like what hit me yesterday.

Additionally, I would rather future proof for solar, powerwalls, and the hypothetical multi vehicle power sharing, by dividing up generation panel, backup loads, and non-backup loads. (Ignore gateway 2. Apply same concept to gateway 3v) The few slots I want the gateway addon subpanel for are non-backups which are far less. I can easily add them back later to backup when my system can handle it.

Got it. Thanks! You guys hold up ok with minimal/no flooding/damage?

Your Gateway is your backed up loads panel.
Biggest issue is that 60Amp breaker feeding it. If you charge Cybertruck at it's full 48A, that maxes out the main panels 60A breaker (due to EV charging incurring a 125% upcharge for being considered a continuous load).

If the feed was increased to 100A, then you would have 40A of overhead for other noncontinuous loads (actual load, not breaker rating) which is close to the 48A that Powershare supports.

Thankfully we did just fine. Tree in backyard was falling over but I was able to prop it back up. Otherwise, no flooding or damage. Mainly lost power and cellular service for a few hours. Consider ourselves lucky as the eye went right over us. Haha

That’s a great point, which is going to be the 99% state.

It will be interesting to see if Powershare will work with dynamic power management to support 48A of intermittent load on a 100A or smaller circuit.

I assume just setting the WC to < 48A charge would also reduce its backup output power.

The electrician working on my install said the max the truck can output is 60A.

It uses a 60Amp breaker & wire for continuous 48A (11.5 kW) output. Peak current handling (air conditioning compressor startup) is 110A.

You might get it under with a soft start. I have two units that exceed the power output anyways, plus my main concern right now given the truck is my only source, is longevity for things like my refrigerator, internet, etc.
