do people actually NOT want to clear things? maybe we should just let the system guess if we want to clear the obstacle?

It would be even more impressive if it would tell you how high the obstacle is as well, and then ask if you want to clear it.

I like this feature, but clearly not all of the UX/UI Peeps are talking to the Exterior Design Peeps.. That picture looks like an afterthought..

The point was that it also tells you the nature of the incoming terrain. There could be situations where you don't want to increase your ride height, so it happening automatically might not be in your best interest. For example on a sideways incline or under a low hanging branch, or because you can simply drive around the obstacle. Without knowing your intention it's hard to anticipate the right predictive action, so a confirmation, and a warning beep, like a "clearance" parking sensor would work best without unintended consequences.

This is pretty cool. When you adjust the suspension ride height on your Cybertruck, the display will show the overall vehicle height and ground clearance at the new suspension height.

nice for those parking structures with low ceilings

A sense of humor goes a long way in life…
Maybe text by itself is too dry to convey humour? Was your post after also in jest?

Use these otherwise ;) ? ? :p ?

Seemed like legit concerns to me.

Not many ceilings where you can park, but can't walk under. CT is low enough to fit anywhere you can walk upright.

There are a ton of low ceiling parking garages in Toronto that pickups generally don't fit in.
I used to have to remove my Ham radio antenna from y little Jeep Patriot to get into the Eaton Center garage.

But can you walk in those garages standing upright?

The CT is always lower than a standing person, and standing height used in garage or buildings. Plus you can select a lower suspension height as well. There are very few buildings where you have less than standing height and allow you to park there.

Point is if you can stand there without your head touching the ceiling you can park a CT.

We weren't talking about "other" trucks, just the CT.

at max height the CT is 6'4" I am only 5'9" so I don't have to worry about hitting my head in a garage with a 6'3" clearance. yes you would lower the truck and it will be 5'9" as in the image, I am just saying it is nice they put that info on screen so if you are going through a space like a parking garage with a max clearance you know if you will need to lower the truck. You might also have roof racks and other stuff, like radio antennas that stick up above the roofline too, but you just need to know how much higher they are and add that.

Yeah ok no worries that makes sense. I doubt the CT will let you drive for long periods in fully extended mode before defaulting back down to a normal level. So unless you put it up just before going into a garage, I don't think it should be an issue.

But ut would also be good if FSD would tell you if the CT is to high to pass under something or to wide, by measuring the opening you are driving towards.

Then you would also want to be able to add accessories and even the width and height of what you are towing.

This could be taken a step further, with the trailer wheel base also being entered, it could then calculate the trailer turning radius and overlay that on a overhead camera shot, so you can miss the curb with a trailer. It could also used optimise anti-sway using the RWS, or auto trailer reversing.

I wonder if you can set it to change based on speed. Like in the streets, High, on Highway, Low….
If they're anything like the Model S, it will hunker down at speed, my S75D did that on the freeway, for better mileage I figured.

The image below is from the latest Model X manual on air suspension (ala 'like' CT) and it has some interesting features including being able to override the auto-lowering that happens automatically at documented speeds.

It'll be really interesting if the CT ends up with similar options. Don't recall UIs with it and AFAIK the manual is only in the car and not publicly shared yet. Link to Tesla manual page [URL]

Aside: my 2017 X does not auto-lower at highway speeds but you can specify at what speed you would like it to do that.
