I have the experience of driving in two disparate locations, Urban New York and rural Vermont. In NY I get a lot of positive reactions or no reactions mainly because most people here have seen them before. I have maybe had less than 5 negative interactions (finger, incessant honking) the past 4 months. All of them are driving beaters.

In Vermont, every driver i pass at least stares at me and have experienced about 50/50 positive to negative interactions. No has tried anything beyond screaming at me (the homeless people are always the boldest). Also a lot of people carry in Vermont so that might have an impact. But yeah, the more rural you get, the more negative the interactions get. But I still get thumps up from the most unexpected people. I'm pretty young so most people are curious about what I do more than the truck. No kids, I'm not a youtuber

You can't let negativity get to you for doing something as normal as driving down the street. I usually laugh at the people who are yelling at me from their car, i get some enjoyment knowing I'll live rent free inside their head for awhile.
