Light Bar Fell Off, fixes?

Just to add... Replacing the windshield after the lightbar has been glued on was my nightmare scenario. I'm annoyed it actually came true.

I love the rack and it’s funny that you should ask your timing is kind of impeccable. I just got notification about an hour ago that my rooftop tent from Mars is going to be delivered tomorrow!!!!

It’s the whole reason that I got the rack and tomorrow my rig will be complete!!!

as far as the light bar no I would not be willing to change unless the OEM one fell off and broke and they wouldn’t replace it. (1) I really like the look it’s sleek refined and understated, (2) you don’t get the same integration with any aftermarket version, (3) how cool is it to look on your phone or your center console and see the light bar attached to your truck? That only happens with the OEM, (4) this still isn’t settled, but I believe that all indications point to the factory light bar being a FS/CB exclusive and if that’s true, then it’ll end up being the most distinctive indicator that you’re an OG badass!

can’t wait to get the tent installed and get out there with it. I’ll have lots to say about that in a couple of other goodies that I’ve received soon!

Well, I got misled. Apparently, the local delivery company even though reporting to me that they had the tent and were going to deliver it by 3 PM today, did NOT in fact have the tent and it’s still in Los Angeles!

Update for anyone still lurking this thread:
Was going to get it reattached on 4/11 (along with tire rotation, camera cleaning, etc) but they just randomly rescheduled it? It's on the 15th now, lightbar reattachment is free.

Currently have a strip of packing tape on each side going from the top of the lightbar to the inside of the car + another strip in the middle. It's been holding fine and lasted through multiple trips on the highway.

I was cautiously confident that this would never happen to me but lo and behold my light bar came off while driving last night. I was driving about 40 mph but was lucky to be around the corner from my house so was able to get home quickly. Unfortunately my truck is wrapped and when the bar came off and was dangling it gouged my wrapped in several places. Not sure if I will get any pushback to have them pay for the damages there. We shall see. All of the adhesive remains on the light bar with zero residual remaining on windshield.

Also, for the record, I have not brought the truck through a car wash once. Only hand washed a few times.

Same thing happened to me with a 3rd party light bar. I don't believe there is any type of double adhesive tape that will last forever on glass with Chicago weather ( -32F to 100F ) year after year - rain - wind - snow - ice - etc. -

With wind speed at times over 80+mph (65mph for the truck and a head wind of 15mph) on the expressway. Its brutal out there.

My new light bar bolts on.

If Tesla ever provides one for my beast - i will take it, but I will never install it.

This is just dirt, not adhesive?

The specified adhesive is made for attaching windshields to cars, so lack of residue points to poor surface prep.

Someone put a lot of effort into that pattern.
Unfortunately, that isn't the way it is supposed to be applied based on the current version of the service manual.
Nozzle cut 5mm wide 6mm high, one bead around the perimeter, and sub 2mm edge gap after placement.

Why in the world does anyone believe that adhesive would keep anything stuck to a front windshield for the lifetime of the product?

That is the most weather beaten - wind torturous - expansion/contraction part of any vehicle (car, plane, train, etc.).
Name any other double adhesive product stuck on the front glass of a moving vehicle that does HAS not come off over its lifetime.

It just makes no sense.

It HAS to be bolted down somewhere.
