if you're just looking for something reliable, I've been through more usbkey type drives than I care to remember, all failed for some reason, probably the heat? There were maybe six or seven including decent brands like Samsung, Kingston etc.
That all changed for me when I switched from "thumb drive" type devices and went for a 240G SSD and a USB-SATA connector cable. That was rock solid and never needed reformatting or other work. Maybe heat dissipation works better with a larger case form factor? Who knows.

Then I replaced that with the Pi Zero noted above which maintains itself every evening while its syncing to my home storage over wifi ;)

I just installed a Samsung T7 shield 4 TB.
I had trouble with the truck formatting the ssd to be compatible, but I plugged into my computer and created a folder named TeslaCam after it formatted the ssd and it works perfectly.
I’m going to test it this weekend to see if I can create another folder on the same drive, but put mp3 files for lock sounds and also see if I can do video playback off of it as well.

is it USB-A (female) plug in the glove box? or is it usb-c (female)

tesla site says USB-A female, USB-C male, but that doesn't really make sense to me
I figured there would be a USB-C female port in the glovebox, but why would there be a need for an adapter?

anyone have a pic inside the glovebox?

It’s a USB-A in my Model Y.

Where is the pre installed drive? Is it embedded somewhere because I didn’t see it in my glovebox.

It's preinstalled in the glove box in the back. Standard silver thumbdrive with Tesla logo. I changed it out with an ssd because there seems to be a bug where old recordings are not overwritten so it'll be full quite often. Hopefully they'll fix the bug soon. Good luck!

Thx much - I must not have looked closely enough. Which SSD did you go with?

Did your MP3 Folder work? I'd like to do the same!
Thanks.

Ditto. Did the Samsung T7 work for sentry mode and audio files?

Found a perfect style drive for the Cybertruck (not that it matters, but it's still neat). Available up to 1TB and 1000MB/sec. I ordered one from Amazon, should arrive tomorrow, I'll update once I get test it. Amazon link: White and Black
