Width wise that is true, R1T is 79" wide, but length of an R1T is closer to a mid size truck than a full size.
yet manages to have 0.5’ less bed than a Tacoma short bed (and Tacoma also offers a long bed)

emphasizes just how much of a mid-size+frunk it is, in terms of functionality

I have a 2016 GMC 2500 it's listed as 80.5" wide; no marker lights and plenty wide - mines a 6 seater with front bench/flip up center seat (that I have never used 1x)

New Ford Ranger is 77.8" wide - I thought it would be narrower

3% difference cant really be noticeable - and my truck is / feels big inside

agree door thickness won't help, and if fender flares count in the width then truly could be Ranger Width...

also concerned about bed width - current 6.5" bed (not sure of width) can load 3 dirt bikes - looks like the CT will limit to 2 (hopefully)

There's 3 sizes. The OG with no mirrors, this one with square-ish mirrors, and the latest pre-production model with triangle mirrors.

You can easily tell the difference between the three by looking at the tailgate shape, size of the wheel arch covers, mirrors, and wheels.

if you look at some interior shots, the CT you have pictured still had the 3rd front seat.

We have nothing to indicate that there is a size difference between triangle beta and square beta.

Does the Model S even have a wiper? lol
Yes, but it's small. Which is why they have the PLAID option.... for compensating....

That's an Alpha prototype not a Beta. We do, the fender flares alone which are smaller on the Beta than the Alpha could take it down to 80" and therefore eliminate the need for amber lighting.
you haven’t measured either vehicle.

I think this pic is the reason for the lack of 6 seats.
Gotta space passengers away from the doors to make headroom/shoulder room palatable.
No, full size vehicles can fit a third front seat. They used to all have them, my old Intrepid had one. All the main trucks offer them on some trims. If Tesla doesn’t include it, it’s simply a design choice.

Do you know of another fullsize vehicle with such a dramatic difference in width between the roof line and the floor? Half ton trucks are pretty close to even. This is more like a trapezoid

But longer, and far more utilitarian. That bed, a working tonneau. Rivian has a nice product, but vastly overpriced. They know it.
To be fair, the Model S was overpriced when it first came out too. It's tough to get into the car manufacturing business and not lose your shirt if your production rate is so low and you don't over charge for the product. Economies of scale are real!
