Musk: Production Cybertruck Width to be 82" and Come Standard With Upper Laser Blade Lights

A Ford Raptor is 86.3” not counting the mirrors. I think Teslas 82” width decision is right on the money.

Musk just tweeted that the production Cybertruck will be about 82" in width and that the upper laser blade lights (at top of the cab) will be standard.




For width comparison:

2020 F-150 Lariat Width (with mirrors): 96.8 in
2020 F-150 Lariat Width (mirrors folded): 83.5 in

Musk said it will come standard with Laser Blade Lights, sadly we have not seen them in a while.
We saw cab clearance lights atop the windshield move to above the bumper and now gone.

We see the wrap around frunk light on entirely or segmented or off.

We saw fog lights below the bumper, those are gone. We saw quad lights above the bumper and now they appear to be 2 different set of lights, maybe one pair is fog.

All the changes suggest our friends at Tesla are not satisfied they have come up with the best option, and so we wait as every day technology comes up with something better and they try it. I’m expecting a light show parallel to the X with music from _________ (fill in the blank)

As far as size goes 82 seems sensible, it will fit in “most” garages but barely. I don’t plan on parking in the garage so I’m good.

I like that the Cybertruck updates from Musk so far haven't signaled much is changing between the concept and the production Cybertruck.

I wonder though if by mentioning the upper laser blade lights specifically without mentioning the laser blade headlights, it means that either 1) the laser blade headlights are no more or 2) they're not coming standard like the upper lights. Or maybe I'm just reading into a tweet waaay too much

I have no use for Upper LaserBlade in white. I’d like Cearance lights inside behind the W/S and triple front marker lights with a desert lamp socket to power a lighted whip pls.

2.) Glare from S.S. front valance
3.) Bolt-on rect. fog lamps don’t even light floor==joke
Ditch rect. lighting theme.
Let round fog lamps free!
Heat-treat S.S. front+corner valance anti-glare.

Tesla’s version of Giga Texas at 41 minutes Elon mentions Cybertruck, CROWD GOES WILD then at about 47 minutes Franz drives on stage. It looks Texas sized but no blade light and I thought for sure we’d see it on here.

That width should be fine for most people used to a truck. My TRX is 88 inches wide and I find that to be a bit much at times in urban areas.

Turning radius depends on the maximum angle the front wheels can turn, as well as the wheel base length.

With four wheel steering, if the rear wheels turn in opposite direction at low speeds, that should reduce the turning radius significantly.
