It appears they have identified the issue. This is a good thing. Latest update (Thursday, February 29th):

“Carlos, hope you are doing well. We are progressing through service and technician diagnostic, Bed and Backbone Harnesses - Harness - LV Backbone is faulty. The part is special order and plan to have the part by 03.08.24. Once we install the part we will need to perform an extended road test to ensure there is no other alerts.”

Not a Tesla service tech but that does not sound like a minor component.
Lands on the 8th, which is a Friday, so likely get worked on Monday-Tuesday
Then not sure what an extended road test is, but I wouldn't plan on driving it until at least the 12th unless the shipping gets significantly expedited :(
With a $120k vehicle going down so soon you would think they would overnight the part to shave off a week of you waiting.
Out of curiosity did they give you a cybertruck as your rental vehicle?

You are famous now
Not looking to be famous, just looking to share what is going on and giving updates so others can follow along. Those articles are looking for dirt. The way I look at it, the Cybertruck is a really great vehicle and it had some faulty parts. I would still highly recommend this to anyone who asks me about it.

Being an earlier adopter has its draw backs, but it is not the end of the world. As a long term Tesla shareholder, I believe the Cybertruck is the tip of the iceberg for the brand and it will unlock a new era of innovation.

I confirmed an extended road test is 50 miles.
A cable harness would do it seeing they've bundled so much into the same 48V wiring. That now sounds like there is a mechanical problem with the cable routing or connectors from the factory. Not sure how the bed harness should interfere with brakes and steering up the front, makes sense for rear steering though.

Maybe you can ask them to see the faulty harness before they throw it away? Would be interesting, and it's "for your safety and confidence in the vehicle", so there's no reason to not show you, nor an uncommon request.

I'm not sure if the LV Backbone is just cable though, it's obviously for 48V which is what the SbW runs on. Would have to look through the parts list to be sure, but if it was "just" a faulty cable I'm not sure how a 50mile test would help make sure it works properly? If anything you'd do that sort of test on electronics, to see if it doesn't fail over time and under load, but not for cable and connectors you can check for continuity in the workshop?

Specifically I'd ask them if there was something wrong with the PCS or not, seeing this came up originally. That is probably the most complex and sensitive part in the assembly, and also the most difficult to diagnose a intermittent and unintended design error.

Thanks for the updates.

I thought we have a very similar problem, but we appear to have a different path to resolution. They said to me:

looks like I better order a spare power conversion module and harness before I get my cybertruck lol
I hope by the time i get my truck, SC technicians would be well trained by the real cases.

My tracker no longer says “waiting on parts” and it shows it as “repair in progress” with an estimated completion of Monday, March 4th at 5:30 pm. Not sure how accurate the app is, but that is what it says.
Just wondering how you are going with getting your CT back?

In the meantime, maybe you are interested in looking at what replacing the harness entails and how long it should take from the service manual:

That looks like a lot of work (78 steps in total). I think that work happened yesterday because the vehicle moved from outside the building to inside the building and all four doors + frunk were open yesterday for about 4 hours. I didn’t see the estimated labor time on the job via the link you provided, but my guess is they did the work. The other reason is because it doesn’t say waiting for parts anymore. The vehicle still has 364 miles on it, so it doesn’t look like they have done their extended drive test (50 miles).

So it appears they are ahead of their schedule, which was that they expected the part on Friday, March 8th. According to my app it says the estimated completion time is Monday, March 4th at 5:30 pm.

What is most interesting to me is the OP noted similar problems & error codes, but appears to be going down a different resolution path.

Being able to see the realtime location of a Tesla (in most cases) helps to ease the curiosity and wait times at least. No other vehicle reports this type of data.

I didn't see this mentioned in the thread, but are they offering any kind of "oops, sorry about the huge hassle" compensation?

Free superchargers miles? Anything?
