Man this is cool, but we are all in on myQ so seamless auto open auto close. But this is a great alternative.

If you have Home Assistant, get a ratgdo board to control your garage door opener. Then automate the door function based on arriving/departure or through voice control on any of your devices.

I used MyQ on my phone to open my door while FSD arrives. Now that FSD has relaxed it's nags it works fine and doesn't cost anything.

This hardware solution is nice for manual driving however.
Is the paid MyQ required for that feature? (I've got new openers, haven't bitten into the QRCode yet.)

There's a Craftsman door opener app that I use instead of MyQ (somehow they're the same) and there's been no ads on that version so far.

Round buttons, really? Huge miss on this… should be cyber square or cyber shaped button. At $72, the horrible cheap 3d printer finish needs to be OEM quality finish.
Nah, matches my rivet.

No, actually I agree. It's a good idea that needs some refinement for sure.

I just ordered a new item I found on etsy.com and HIGHLY RECOMMEND! It is the "Integrated Garage Door Remote." It takes your normal garage door opener and integrates it into the steering wheel in a place I would have never thought. It took about 1 minute to install after programming the remote. I love that people are trying to better the CT by fixing its deficiencies."

Yeah, MyQ works fine for me at my house, but that’s it. I can’t get into my dad’s community gate. I can’t get into my work garage. Beyond spaces that you personally control, it sucks ass. It doesn’t work on any gate and Tesla should’ve given us a option to add garage door functionality, like on every other Tesla.

Still baffled by that choice, but I am buying one of these!

I'm in for 1! I absolutely hate MyQ. I've subscribed to the paid service because I heard it was better, it's not. It's unreliable and I still carry my clicker for when MyQ sucks (which is always). I hope they eventually offer Homelink as an add on like in the M3/Y (My guess is it's a 3rd party part that runs on 12v and there are no 48v suppliers).
I wonder what makes some people have so many issues with MyQ and others do not. I have not had a single time that MyQ has not worked for me outside of once when I had my home network down which made it so the MyQ Hub was down.

The main issue is Homelink is a much better solution than MyQ. Homelink does not rely on internet/wifi at all. It works for gate entry as well as garage entry. Lastly, it does not need a yearly/monthly subscription. Imagine having to pay for a subscription for a much inferior product. Tesla dropped the ball bigly here, especially when Homelink has been working flawlessly for years!

Homelink: my car rolls up and the gate opens automatically when my car is 30 yards away, perfect timing to allow the car to go straight past without slowing down. Then, within a preset distance, Homelink opens the garage door automatically or as I have mine set to display 2 buttons on screen for me to select which garage door to open. MyQ subscription does not do gate entry and relies on wifi/internet which isn't guaranteed. Very annoying really for old-timers used to Homelink.

Homelink is an RF remote. It works the same way as the remote that came with your GDO.
MyQ is controlled over the internet (WiFi at home).

If you have an Android phone, there is a known issue with transitioning from WiFi to cellular. If you are on the edge of your wifi coverage, the Android will oscillate between WIFI and cellular causing all kinds of issues with your apps.

This Android issue also causes a lot of the "lost communications" issues with Summon.

Turning WiFi off on my phone fixes the issue 100% of the time.
