I asked Service and they said since it was only a single event, this did not amount to a PCS failure since everything was still passing checks in toolbox.
Well, it’s just a sign of something going on… 🤷🏻‍♂️

As all current badge owners of failed PCS know this part failure has caught on like wildfire.. I just picked up my CT after getting the new revised part installed "G" and my SC has told me they are swamped with PCS failures.

I proceeded to inquire about cost to replace the part if I was without warranty and they stated that the cost to replace was around $4,000 but due to high failure rate the new cost to replace is around $1000.

This news might alleviate some stress for those without warranty.

This comes from Naperville Service Center, here near Chicago..
I also use the Naperville or Lisle Tesla Service Center. I have an FS CB with 7k miles 2024. Will they replace this board if it has not failed yet, since they have updated the part?

This has to be something that a software update did? How could all these happen at once.
Maybe there is a correlation with Supercharger V4 or something that is causing this instead of software. For the folks without pCS failures, how often do you guys supercharge?

I'm not aware of anyone that hasn't been made whole from the faulty PCS. Do you know someone?
Maybe people just out of 50k had to pay up to 7k… if that’s what you mean by made whole again, I’d think Tesla should cover it as patter of the battery system coverage

People who can’t charge at all are having problems getting parts so definitely not now but maybe in few months or more. Just a guess.

The PCS does NOT handle Supercharging, only AC (home) charging.

They say trucks built after July 30, 2024 have an updated pcs unit that shouldn't be failing. And yet I see reports of some trucks that were made much later having a pcs failure and getting it replaced. (Something like a 2-5% failure rate for these later trucks). Does that mean the replacement pcs unit didnt actually fix the problem?

I guess I'm trying to figure out if I need to worry about this. My Vin is 55,xxx built in October 2024.

Yeah for some reason I can’t supercharge either after AC charging went out so I thought might be related somehow.
That’s good to know. I don’t really charge every day. I will top it up once a week. So it’s not cycling every day if I’m not using it. Maybe that’s why I haven’t had a problem yet.🤷🏻‍♂️ I picked it up June 12, 2024.

Well, that's what I was told by service as the PCS is the Power Conversion System for AC to DC charging. Supercharging is direct DC charging so the PCS is not used. HOWEVER, I suppose if it goes out in some fantastic way, it might damage something else? I don't have all the answers-just trying to relay what I've been told.

Tesla recommends leaving it plugged in when not in use for best/longest battery life!

I do leave it plugged in, FYI. I just close and shut off the app on the phone. It won’t automatically cycle every day if I do that.

I for sure don’t know but I am wondering if it is possible that they wear out in a certain number of charges? People with more miles seem to have been hit first.
