Many Cybertruck owners already invested in Powerwall installations expecting seamless integration. Instead, they remain unable to use the two systems together, even though both are fully Tesla products.

Tesla says the delay allows time to test across multiple Powerwall generations, solar configurations, and electrical layouts, highlighting the complexity of managing bidirectional energy flows safely and reliably. Home backup systems must meet strict regulatory and utility requirements, and coordinating vehicle firmware, Powerwall software, and Tesla app controls adds another layer of complexity.

Tesla also noted it is using the extended timeline to develop additional PowerShare features, though no specifics of these new features were shared.

I too wish they'd hurry up already.

I really want it but I'm not sure how I will use it.

I only have one Powerwall 3 so the hope was to add additional free storage but I'm not sure how and when you'll be able to send power from the EV to the house and or Powerwall.

I don't think there's any legal action that has a decent chance of success. And they're definitely not committing, but it could mean they have set a deadline for themselves. That's less likely if the same email went out in 2024, though, obviously.

I thought people were already using powershare? Does it only work with a gateway that is not part of the powerwall?

has anyone had their uiversal wall charger connected to their existing wall battery system/gateway? I have an existing solar array, 2 wall batteries, gateway from Tesla and I was told by Smart Charge America that as long as it's wired to the gateway and Tesla launches software it then will work.

If you have solar and a Powerwall 3, with any Tesla EV charger, it's supposed to work someday but not yet.

If you got the Gateway (v3 only) and Universal EV charger bundle specifically for Powershare, I think it's working or at least I would hope so because they've been doing that for folks for a while and that would be crazy if they still had no Powershare?

If you paid to have that installed like over a year ago and you still can't do anything with it, seems crazy. At least folks with solar and a powerwall 3 can utilize their system while waiting on powershare as an added feature.

You need the specific Powershare Gateway (3V model) and the Universal Wall Connector.

So if I had the same setup as the guy above, I would basically just need to spend the $2500 for the Powershare bundle and then also pay for installation, or just wait until mid-2026?

To me, PowerShare was one of the more attractive features that was supposed to come either the CyberTruck. Before getting my truck I had solar, 3 PowerWalls and gateway installed. I recently installed a Universal charger, thinking the release of the PowerShare software might be arriving soon. I can use the CT for power by connecting the house to the 240 outlet, but it’s not automatic like PowerShare would be. So here I sit like a Cargo Cult member, all set up and waiting for the magic to come from the sky. I hope the results are better than for the Cargo Cult!
Tesla could wait for all the go fasters and just send the basic switching. I’d be much happier with that.

Yes that is an option. Also there is the option to use existing pWs and gateways prior to 3v. 2026 software release....I was just seeing if anyone actually had their Gateway 2 and Pws system wired already with Universal connector......
