Others said the spray is better, which is also probably part of the new design. I haven’t tried it in the conditions it struggled in yet.

the spray is the same. it wipes clean on the down stroke, but leave a little but of liquid/dirt on the up so you toggle your wiper again to get it clean on the down, but then gets messed up on the up hahah.

Mentioned to service that FSD was dry wiping often, causing scratches on the windshield. I got a new wiper blade and wiper motor (not sure why). They also said I’d be getting a new wiper arm, but it isn’t listed on the service summary. My advisor confirmed the wiper blade is an updated design.

FSD still wipes dry as soon as it’s activated, but I can definitely tell it’s much smoother and made no nails on chalkboard noise anymore.

I got an appointment to check out a bunch of things on Jan. 4th. I will have to mention this to them as mine is doing the same. Also a huge amount of noise coming from it staying down when driving on highway/freeway. Won't let me manual click to keep it back up.

If you click it once, it may stay horizontal. If you spray, it will automatically go back to vertical.

I clicked it once and spray both at high speeds stay down for awhile making loud noises. No option to bring it back up. I have to turn it off at times and sometimes that works.

There is definitely a dry wipe bug in the most recent branches of FSD. Also, I assume the engineers weren't at all satisfied with the wiper on final release and have been working hard to come up with a better design since.

Hopefully the new design is easily upgradable.

I am still hopeful to get the laser window cleaner as was first suggested to clear the window! I use RainX on all my cars and rarely ever have to use the wipers on them at all (especially at highway speeds). When wipers are used, even dry, they just glide across the glass without any chatter. The water simply beads up and rolls off in either the up or down direction depending on wind/driving speed. There is a sweet spot that you can have all the beads of water just hover that varies on wind and driving speed.... it's fun to find that speed but you still have to pay attention to the road and vehicles around you!

Have you ever considered ceramic coating your glass? I did it very early on and the glass in my truck stays nearly pristine all the time.

It should help keep grime off your glass quite a bit, yeah. Makes it much easier to clean as well.

This comes from Tesla service that it is an updated wiper design. Others have been told the same.

I literally just had my truck in for service bc of the smudging in the center of my fov. This was actually the 3rd time I added that during service.

It's also the 3rd time they replaced the wiper arm and motor.

That all said, I used the washer fluid today and it, in my opinion, came out way more evenly and washed the windshield much much better. It also didn't leave smudging.

I am not sure if this is a rev bump, but they did replace it after mentioning it. I have to assume they tested and saw for themselves.

I still dont understand the actual change in the wiper design apart from adifferent compound used which has been mentioned . additionally they replace the motor as well in some instances . IS this a updated motor fast
