As a surgeon, I've seen a LOT worse from vehicle "edges" and "corners." Even missing fingers & toes. Never saw any carrot slices, however, but maybe they didn't survive. ; ) Even if you're wrapped up in bubble wrap, things WILL happen..........

It's not just CT edges to be aware of.

What is different between the CT and other vehicles? 90° edges, the CT has them, most other cars have rolled edges.

I feel we are going to see a lot more of this. Children will likely have a lot more injuries. I can tell you having run my hands over most the the vehicle already, it is inherently more dangerous than any other vehicle I have owned. I do not think its a risk to life or limb, but we are going to see a lot of injuries like OP.

My prediction:
  • Class action lawsuit
  • A recall
  • Plastic guards being added in certain trouble spots.

EDIT: Let me put it this way. I would feel comfortable doing a "trust fall" backwards onto almost any car at any angle. If I did that to a CT I feel the edges would break my skin.

Yeah I can see a lot more "aero" or "safety" trim-related service bulletins in the future like the had for the frunk corners.

https://service.tesla.com/docs/Serv.../SB/SB-24-12-001_Retrofit_Frunk_Aero_Seal.pdf

Edit: damn this is actually the seal. I could have sworn the first delivered trucks were also missing the corner black plastic/rubber pieces.

Here's the thing, hitting anything hard enough can cause a deep scratch. I walked into a 4 foot tall cabinet, and hit my head against it causing a deep gash and sitches. Was the square cabinet to blame? Many would say no, and say it was clearly my fault.

But some cabinet short sellers would love disagree.

For reference the Rivian Gear Tunnel has done far more damage to a guy who clearly slice a chunk off his calf muscle:

Be careful when closing your cybertruck door!

I parked on an incline, exited the truck and as I was closing the door I manage to clip the very corner of the door against my leg. When I got home the wife said I needed to go get stitches, so I did.

I’m clumsy, so this is 100% my fault lol

I still love the truck!

The corner really isn’t that sharp, I was just lucky enough to close the door with enough force and hit my leg perfectly to cause damage.

Thanks for sharing this. I was worried that this injury was a CyberTruck specific issue but looks like it could have happened by any vehicle parked on a slope.

Stainless steel, if it scraps against something else, can develop a raised edge.

But on an edge, it definitely could develop an edge which would cut. All such areas need to be sanded/filed/polished down.

Regular steel would likely just chip off, but ss does not do that. This is why bolting a stainless screw to a stainless nut can be very difficult. A tiny raised part develops and freezes the bolt and nut together. Look up "thread galling".

All the edges of the sheets should be folded over and smooth; there should be no way you could cut yourself on an edge, including a "sharp corner."

HFS is too stiff for hemming the edges, so they are chamfered instead.
