My pcs failure caused the entire truck to shut down while on the highway just a few weeks ago, truck went into limp mode first. Luckily I got out got back in and let me continue to drive. Im at 60k miles and had to eat the cost of $7200. Now when charging at home, I sometimes get a 'charging stopped at xx%' and then immediately resumes. Gutted is not the word.

They replaced my PCS at 35k miles 2 weeks ago. Complete HV pack failure about 4 days later. Been at the SC since September 12. Lemon law invoking imminent. Already had a 32 day long service last year so I am gonna get the full refund under VT minus a mileage deduction. If I can time it right I can lease a beast and before the end of quarter and then buyout the lease with the payout.

They said the pcs isn't apart of the high voltage system - that its mid-voltage and thus is covered under basic warranty @ 50,000 miles. I'm at 60,000 miles. God help us all past 150k

If your truck has to go into limp mode, then it affects the HV pack and motors. I would argue this with them until the end of time.

Have you escalated your case yet?

The differentiation isn't HV vs MV. The recent California induced updates to the warranty make it even more clear that the drive unit and battery only cover the drive unit and battery. Not the full pack nor HV system.
2026 SXY have ZEV updates, Cybertruck does not (2026 RWD might qualify, but those don't exist)

either way, if this is how Tesla is going to respond with a major system failure that prevents normal propulsive operation of the vehicle, then they are going to severely damage their reputation.

a PCS failure at 50,000 miles, and not covered under warranty, is very concerning.

It's how it has been for a decade, though the recent spike in Cybertruck PCS issues is new.

Ford's powertrain warranty is only 10k miles longer.

Just to add another data point: we had our PCS system replaced since it wasn't pulling the full amperage on our standard Tesla Charger at home. It's on a 60amp breaker, and our X would draw 48amps but the truck would only pull ~12-20 from what I recall. Once in service they weren't able to find any error codes or diagnostics, but then reached out to a senior service person who recommended replacing the PCS on it.

If you have access to a level-2 or similar charger it might be worth plugging it in and seeing what kind of power the truck can handle as it might be an early warning signal.

common? I mean sure relative to all cybertrucks produced? Thats like saying the inverter issue wasnt “common” or the cantrail delamination wasnt “common”. Maybe every single truck doesnt have the issue but enough of them do that its becoming known.

Yeah this one scares me. I've got VIN 9001 w/ 23k miles and it makes me a really nervous. I was hoping if it was going to go it would happen this summer when I'm driving around Omaha and near a service center. I have multiple trips into Wyoming and Montana planned this winter. Curious what people do if your tesla breaks down and your 500 miles from a service center?

Tesla will tow it to a SC at their expense if under warranty. In the old days (2013) they would send a Tesla flatbed to my home 225 miles from the SC, and bring it back - A total of 900 miles with two round trips. That happened twice, then Elon got religion about the nonprofit service commitment. Same for every Tesla having lifetime ‘free’ supercharging - some things just weren’t financially tenable.

Oh ok thats good to know, so they will send a Tow to nearest SC.. I've actually always wondered how that would play out..
