Where would it get utility power status if it wasn't the utility side of the gateway?

In this setup, there really isn't an island concept. It's utility on/ utility off.
The Enphase then just sees power, sync and augment.

And that where it appears the Powershare can see the extra power and assume that something isn't quite right and jumps ship.
The Gateway monitors the utility side of its disconnect switch to determine when to change state. Gateway controls the island state independent of utility state. The Gateway uses the state of its disconnect switch as an input to the signal that it publishes to the Cybertruck to enable power export.

Cybertruck only exports into an island so Gateway reconnecting requires dropping Cybertruck export before reconnection. Solar only exports into a live circuit (unless they are grid forming with their own controller).

I was told the same thing from my installer this week (software does not allow for Solar yet). I have a bunch of other issues though. I have enphase batteries and more Solar power than the powershare gateway they use can handle. Really looking forward to how everyone handles integration with their current systems as I don't think I'm going to be able to use it with mine.

Separately enphase is working on their own V2G/V2H system, whether it will be compatible with Tesla is definitely a long shot in the dark.

Best of luck to you, I have Enphase myself. Emailed Tesla asking when they expect things to be ready and they said hopefully by the end of the year.

Tesla let me pay over $3000 (partial payment until system is working) for installation of the gateway and then I’m told it’s not compatible with Solar yet. I have Enphase Solar and no power wall. Apparently waiting on software fixes and possibly some hardware to monitor Solar consumption/production. Saw a YouTube video were someone had Solar with no power wall and the new gateway running on some beta software though. Anyone else running into this situation?
Same here - still not working with my grid-tied system (SunPower).

Are the non-Tesla solar panels supposed to be connected in the gateway?

I have non-Tesla solar, a backup generator, and PowerShare. Seems like the same situation as you. I was told by my installer (Willow Glen, San Jose, and they definitely knew my whole configuration) that Tesla would be making our system functional before 2025, and that they would contact me, but time is running out and I haven’t heard anything.

Same situation as you, none Tesla solar, backup generator, and no powerwall. I have been waiting and waiting. Was told I need a firmware update and it should be done by years end. I am not holding my breath. Just really sucks all the money I spent and I still can’t use it.
At least my generator still works. But if this isn’t fixed quickly there might be a class action lawsuit in the works.

Yes, it sucks, and I am also not holding my breath or I would have passed out by now (and might be dead). I would like to hope that the energy folks at Tesla are better at predicting solution timelines than Elon is. Their sheer lack of transparency is a wakeup call though.

I answered my own question I had to probe the installer. Yes it needs to be in the gateway. However it's not enabled as stated in the thread. Hopefully sometime in 2025.

Additional information, only 8 circuits available, charger uses 2, solar 2 so there goes my whole home backup.

It should be possible to connect via a subpanel on the feed through lugs. Either for generation or to feed your existing house panel.
Unless the issue is a local code requirement (Maryland doesn't allow full house off Powershsre, for instance)
Gateway 3, but basically the same thing as 3V.

Not looking like we are getting an update by end of year does it…

No, not at the time. It was very early in the process and they had only done one other in Colorado but without solar.

I may have spoke to soon, just happen to see the Go Off-Grid option in the app. They don’t seem to tell you anything, you have to find it on your own. Don’t know if it works yet.

I have had that since last app update. It doesn’t do anything for me. Still no PowerShare option in my app or my truck.
when I turn off the power nothing happens. So still waiting for the update
