Ok I want in. I’m having a beer and I want to play the price is right.

I predict there will only be 2 versions To start with.
dual motor, 48,000
tri motor, 58,000
my reasoning, not that anyone is likely to see this.
Because they aren’t making new motors….they are using ones they already have made for awhile. That cuts costs. The savings plus a little inflation makes this my guess. This guess starting from the price for the original single motor.
tri motor guess, everything I wined about above plus the fact that I think they realize they don’t need a 4th motor.
Let me get another beer.

Ok, full disclosure, I did not read any of these posts. I was just looking for a place where people were price guessing so I could play along.

65-75k for 300+ mile dual motor initial release model due to battery constraints.

Remember, right now the cheapest 300 mile Ford F150 lightning is XLT trim at 79k.

Cybertruck with 4WS, tough body and air suspension will not be cheap. I think the only thing pressuring Tesla to not price CT at 79k would be the Silverado EV w/400+ mi range.

I don’t understand why people insist on comparing it to a truck which has massively underperformed its launch sales as if Tesla should follow that model.

Ford had 150k+ orders and was supposed to be filling orders for 2+ years from their preorders. Their price increases have resulted in so many cancellations they are producing less than 5,000/ quarter and there is no longer a wait list.

Tesla will be producing 5,000/ week within 6 months. They absolutely must have a better value truck than Ford by a large margin or they will not be able to sell them in large volume.

GM don't make their own batteries/packs
Tesla makes their own

GM buys major parts/software
Tesla make their own.

GM paints and uses boxed production method
Tesla unboxed production method

Tesla No paint

Tesla's production speed at least twice as fast as GM.

GM has sales middle man
Tesla Direct

GM's loses money, and its retail price is arbitrary.
Tesla is 20% profit... and counting.

GM is not a benchmark.

a few beers later;
Exactly where my head is at.

Tesla is not competing. Tesla is trying to transition the world one car/trucks a time as fast as possible to a renewable energy vehicle solution, this is not a slogan. Yes, I believe them.

GM, ford, Hyundai, vw, etc, etc. they ARE competing. They have markets in which they are/were profitable; and the majority of what they have is…..loosing popularity, is becoming passé

I’m not saying Tesla is the super hero solution. I’m saying that all of those other auto manufacturers are competing against a company whose goal is not market share.

Tesla is competing but the race isn’t what the media keeps painting it to be.

Tesla is competing against ICE vehicles. When people shop for cars, they are shopping for value. While a fair number of people are willing & able to pay a large premium for an EV, many are cross shopping versus ICE. If you are a plumber and it’s a choice of paying an extra $20,000 for an EV versus an ICE vehicle for your work truck, there is a great chance you go for the ICE vehicle. The fuel savings is nice, but with interest rates where they are, the payback for an EV is a lot harder.

It’s only once all ICE vehicles are gone that Tesla needs to worry about competing with other EV makers. By then I suspect the playing field will look a lot different.

I think most are willing to pay **some** premium for an EV, but not a lot have the spare change to pay as much as what Ford and Rivian are currently asking.

So?

You think Tesla won't price match their competitions as well as consider their own internal production ramp? They know the market and how much consumers can handle.

I reckon Tesla will not have incentives to lower CT prices to numbers shown in 2019, initially. They will up the price so that supply matches demand.
