I'm waiting a couple more weeks to see what happens and hope for a good finance rate in combination with the current discounts. I really don't want to miss out on the discounts but inventory seems to be staying pretty steady. If that starts to change significantly, I'll go ahead and pull the trigger.

I had been leaning mostly towards a CB but an AWD FS popped up this afternoon for my zip code. There had been zero previously. Starting to question if I really want a CB because for the same price I can get all the FS extras plus FSD and free supercharging. I'm trying not to value free supercharging very high on my list because I always charge at home with the exception of trips but it is definitely something nice to have and I will be road tripping more now that I am living in WA.

Is the CB practical? No. Do I want it? Absolutely. It is hard for me to come up with any actual reason that I want a CB other than I can say I have a CB. Part of the reason I was opting for a non FS CB was because I wanted it to say Cyberbeast on the dash and not Foundation Series.
Cyber beast is awesome, but I can’t even imagine using that speed….my standard AWD is faster than anything I have ever owned….(and I’ve had multiple modded corvettes and mustangs)

You forgot a few "better"s"

1. 48V architecture. Less mass, less complexity, more simplicity.
2. Steer-by-wire. Better maneuverability.
3. ...

What sucks: Inflation. 25.09% from November 2019 to April 2025. So the $50k dual motor AWD is now an inflation-adjusted $62,500.

Move to Colorado and take advantage of $3,750 state tax credit in addition to $7,500 federal tax credit. Cost is LESS than a Toyota Tacoma hybrid. And you get a covered, secure, 6 foot bed.
3. 4 wheel steering

You sound like me. I love acceleration so it is a tri motor or nothing. Only other truck with that kind of potential would be the new Rivian quad which still hasn't been released yet. I do like that you can get street oriented tires with it as I'd mostly use it on the road anyway. I'd love sort of a slammed CB road course truck option with sticky tires.

I think we see 1.99% or better on AWD and FS, RWD excluded anytime after the ER tomorrow but I would suspect before June 1. Hopefully FSD transfer back too.
Apparently Tesla has already announced 0% financing on the Model 3 and Model Y in China, through the end of 2Q. Since the US is Tesla’s second largest market, it would not be surprising to see some kind of financing deal (maybe not 0%) here for 2Q as well.

It's true that Tesla missed on price and specs, but they had another big miss as well: the timing...

In reality, production didn't start until late 2023, so four years after the announcement, instead of just two. That was the first clue that something wasn't going according to plan -- even before the final pricing and specs were available. Seems likely that the design was still incomplete and not fully tested in 2019, and that some overly optimistic assumptions were made at that time.
Yes and 1,950,000 got tired of waiting and just went out and bought a gas pickup.

Hence, a lost Tesla customer for 48-72 months.

Prices definitely will not go up and when you think about end of quarter incentives combined with what (no doubt) will be disappointing end of previous quarter figure to be released today - holding is the right strategy for a better deal.

It's not about using it. It's about knowing you have it and can use it if wanted/needed.
  • Same thing with most pickup truck owners: they actually don't use their bed for anything regularly, but they know it's there in case they want to help their wife's third-removed cousin move their bed on some full moon in August.
  • Same thing with the majority of muscle cars or any high powered racing-type car. Most people never use it for that, but they like knowing it's there...in case, you know, a zombie apocolypse (or something) happens and you have to outrun those surprisingly nimble and quick zombies... ?
  • Same thing with the Cybertruck's "bullet proof" [OK, OK..."resistent"] SS panels and glass. Most of us don't plan to get into a gun fight, but we like knowingh that, if we do, we are a little safer than the Mazda behind us (which is also much slower than us) ?

You brought up a good point. I was already thinking about the perks of the truck in a zombie apocalypse but I didn't consider being able to "Beast mode" the zombies. Sold on the Cyberbeast now.

Tesla was not profitable this quarter without EV credits and Bitcoin. They reported 600mm in bitcoin mark-to-market in non-GAAP. Why this is relevant?

I don't think we'll see massive discounts as Tesla won't be able to do that again with reg credits and bitcoin.

Well, Tesla just announced a new lease deal on AWD Cybertrucks. $799/month for 36 months, with $5,000 down.

I don't expect that to have much of an effect in regards to moving old inventory. Lease went up on cyberbeast without changing residual. Probably looking at 10-11% on those.

Will the new lease offer “demand lever pull“ increase CT demand? My gut says no.
