If you are so sure that estimated numbers on a board during a prototype unveiling has any sort of legal binding agreement then perhaps you should take them to court and let us know how it goes.
What in the flying fuck are you talking about? This strawman argument which bears no relationship to anything that I’ve said or proposed is rejected completely.

Who’s talking about suing anyone even OP doesn’t suggest that what are you on right now? You can invoke reasonable person or whining or whatever you guys want to do but none of that has anything to do with me anything that I’ve suggested or said. And I just can’t accept these silly premises so that you guys can flail around trying to prove that 300 equals 500.

Reality might be an illusion but it’s fucking persistent (as I Einstein noted) and you’re fighting with reality, not me.

500mi was the aspirational goal. If say they took the people's money (like even just 10% of the price) and then changed the specs prior to delivery there would be a reason to be upset. That wasn't the case though. They wanted to announce the upcoming product as soon as they had some idea of what and how they're going to build, but before many technical details were worked out. Naturally the end result in some ways is worse, and some ways is better. I guess some people would rather prefer them doing it quietly for years and then surprise the market with a product ready to ship ? Ignorance is a bliss.

Haha I’m not pissed off but you kind of sound pissed off? ?. Honestly my stance on this kind of ish is it’s a fkn car/truck you like it you buy it you don’t like it don’t buy it. You have a bad experience you sell it you have a good one you keep it and maybe use the same company for your next one. Why people that don’t own one feel the need to complain about “what he promised online and spend there time in forums like this is wild to me he’s living rent free in some these people’s heads , Like I don’t even know who the CEO of Chevy is and I owned 8 of them. Am I fan boy? Hmm I guess because I think he’s brilliant and what makes me more of a fan is he’s rich AF and doesn’t Give a F and speaks his mind and isn’t playing the game others play. He goes on Rogan smokes pot he buys Twitter for free speech even though he lost a ton of cash on it. That’s what makes me a fan plus I own 2
Teslas and have owned 3
And had really good experience with all of them. I’m an anti hater. If he was a normal CEO kissing baby’s and ass I probably wouldn’t like him. People act like he isn’t human and everything he says needs to be held to facts and perfect or he’s criticized like not delivering 500 mile range. I can tell you if someone followed you around all day and saw evehrknr you do people will find sht to call you out on no matter what.
People who are not as used to people who are assertive think they sound pissed off. That’s more of a you problem.

He could’ve said it was an aspirational goal, and then people wouldn’t be able to say that he made a promise that he didn’t deliver on. It’s just English it’s no more complicated than that.

Still waiting for a cogent reason why anybody outside of Elon Musk or Tesla would be so defensive about this.

Elon isn’t crying in his Wheaties about this criticism why are you guys?

He is a smart technical person who doesn't actually care what an average American thinks. If you don't understand product design, iterative development, production ramps and other funzies, it's not Elon's fault. Anyone who is upset is free to take their money elsewhere.

Dumbification of America is a concern beyond just Tesla's product lineup.

That's the same thing I am saying above. I can't speak for others, but I'm not crying about anything. I am a nice enough person to attempt educating grown up children about how stuff works. They can take it or leave it though.

@REM said it best earlier, they were educated guesses on a jumbotron. If you take those as guarantees you will be very disappointed in life.

You may have to wait for RAM PHEV with 690-mile range.

Decent payload of some 2,600 lbs and change too.

It goes both ways , I’m still waiting for a reason why a non owner and non buyer of a CT would care about this?
Just buy something with better range then

Well, if you're driving in town. I was only able to get 240 miles on 100% charge (estimated 340 miles of range) going 75-80 mph on a trip I took Sunday. Two adults, three small children, and a few things in the bed.
That's how range works. You want to go 80? You get less range.

You want the EPA to change mpg/range stats to include a trip at 80? Call your congressman.

I understand how EPA works.

I’m just saying that for road trips, when you’d actually need longer range, the range isn’t that great.

It’ll drive 3-4 hours at highway speeds. I’m ready to stretch the legs, pee and grab a snack/drink after that long anyway. Supercharge while doing that and you’re set.

That’s materially different, my friend, from being unable to do something that you want to do in your vehicle because it’s non-possible, like driving from Las Vegas to Ely Nevada and back.
If there was no gas station, I wouldn't be able to drive my car to Ely and back (without hypermiling), either. Because most cars don't go 500 miles.

But it sure looks like you can drive it, and have your choice of routes. And an 8min charging stop in the middle of a three hour drive seems fine. As well as topping up at the destination while you're off doing other stuff.

Technically that's not true because you can bring extra fuel.
