IMO someone oughta design a Range Extender to drop into the “Smugglers Bay” , that way we retain the full length of the bed and keep the CG low.
To oddly shaped with cells would be my guess, might get another 20k in there that would help but wouldn't move the needle.
Tesla should have delivered a 500mile range truck so when towing we could get 250

As far as I can tell, all references to the Cybertruck Range Extender have been completely wiped from the Tesla website. It's like the RE never existed, not even as a concept.
The cancellation shouldn't come as a surprise. It was noted yesterday that Tesla had totally purged all mention of the Range Extender from the website. They apparently want to forget that they ever raised the idea.

Just glad that the "non-refundable" deposits are being refunded.

Next will be the cancel of the entire product(truck). Watch. Sunk cost be damned. Move on.
I’ve been saying this! I am almost positive there will not be a 2027 Cybertruck… if they don’t cancel the program this year it will be early next year… which I am fine with. I love my truck and want it to be special!

Unique is nice.
But parts, ability to have repaired, aftermarket parts etc etc will suffer if they can't turn the CT truck around or prevent it from being canceled.

That said, the X and S sell very few units and have not gone anywhere.

I’ve been right there with you and I am OK with it. They really have left themselves nowhere to go. The overpriced RWD is not going to fix any of the problems that the truck has with breaking into the market. As much as I love mine and most of us do here - the truck has become notorious, it is been poorly received, it’s manufacturer/ceo have become globally toxic - and, as I stated some months ago, the best comparison for this vehicle is the Ford Edsel.

The Edsel by all accounts was a forward-thinking, technological tour de force that nobody wanted. So too the Cybertruck. Elon, himself, said that it was possible that it would flop. People, sycophants in particular, like to forget that. Tesla is sitting on at least 10,000 of them that they cannot move and are throttling the plant.

Time to face facts. There’s not going to be a comeback. They’ll have to regroup and try a different tact. Maybe a smaller truck?

I’m not concerned about any of this. Mine will be in my possession ‘til the wheels fall off, or mine do, and I am disinterested in whether anybody else ever gets the privilege of owning one.

If I’m wrong and they’re still selling/making cybertrucks in 2030, great! I’m good either way.

Would have been nice to get free lifetime supercharging instead for those of us who had Foundation and ordered the range extender. This is just a slap in the face at this point.
