I literally JUST took delivery. I would prefer to return it and buy another one when the issue is resolved. Anyone know if this is an option?

If "just" meant today, it should have already been fixed (likely if you got it in the last couple days also)
And no, you can't return it.

That article was published about 2hrs ago. How did you become aware so quick? What journalist writes barely a paragraph for public consumption? The cant rail was an issue one year ago as one user reported. I have not received an official email from Tesla on this. Can you share your recent notification on this recall?

Absolutely. It was just a Google news feed recommendation.. Apparently, my browsing history is kinda heavy on CyberTruck related searches?

At least 5 friends reached out to me today asking whether I’m a victim of this poor design! We poor Cybertruck owners are victims of so many things - first FS, then skippers, then non FS price drops, then the Politics, and Elon’s hate, recalls, middle fingers, and of course butt swipes. We poor owners. Here’s to the brothers and sisters of CT victimhood! ?

nah! We are the heroes of the badass truck. Long live Cybertruck! ?
I’m starting to think CT will be a short term model, which pains me to say because I want to drive one til the day I die. With Musk already saying things like “we dug our own grave with Cybertruck” and that the stainless steel design would retire with CT plus the lack of sales and the extreme amount of hate it gets, sometimes even by our fellow Tesla drivers, I just don’t think it’s going to last long enough for any of us to need a second one. Sad days, but I sure hope I’m wrong and it bounces back.

Ditto man, I think I am going to start sending recall notices to all my Toyota, Mercedes, BMW, etc owning friends. Every single recall they have.

Considering 99% of Tesla “recalls” are just software updates and the inverse of other brands, it’s getting annoying.

Prior to Tesla, I bought Fords. So I’m use to recalls. ?

There are other "low-volume" pickups that have found niches in the US market, like the Honda Ridgeline, Jeep Gladiator, and Hyundai Santa Cruz. Those trucks only sell in the 35,000-45,000 per year range, comparable to the Cybertruck.

The difference, though, is that those other pickups all share a platform with a better-selling SUV: the Ridgeline with the Pilot, the Gladiator with the Wrangler, and the Santa Cruz with the Tucson. In such cases, it's possible to produce the pickup version profitably even at low volumes, because it is just a variation on the higher-volume SUV version.

The Cybertruck doesn't have that advantage. It's a totally unique platform, with no close connections to any other vehicles -- not even other Teslas. And that's cool, but it probably also means that it's harder to produce profitably in low volumes.

Anyone can glance at a Jeep Gladiator and see immediately that it's related to a Jeep Wrangler. Anyone can glance at a Cybertruck and see immediately that it's not related to anything else on the road.

I hope not, but you could be right. I feel bad for the companies that invested heavily in big aftermarket addon items expecting the CT to take off. Hopefully something will change and this will blow over and people will start to realize again what a great vehicle it is. Such a crazy unique situation. Time will tell

Good luck! I hope it all works out for you
It did not, later in the day they notified me, again, that my VIN has not come up yet in the que so I need to continue to wait. The light bars are assigned to your VIN...which I would think mine would have come up long ago. And so the saga continues...

It says they didn't fix it at production, though, so all the held trucks will also have to be fixed - but since they never left Tesla they don't need to be 'recalled' so they're not in the count. But they still need to be fixed.

It just means they haven't delivered a truck they built after February.

-Crissa
Tesla must resolve any active recalls before delivery. So, at this point, any new deliveries are fixed.
Recall count includes all trucks produced with the issue, whether sold or not.
Vehicles delivered before the 20th have the issue, unless Tesla started fixing them post-hold pre-recall filing.

I'm glad I dumped my Cybertruck before Musk went totally whacko so that I loss relatively little. But seriously who would have thought that exposed stainless steel panels with adhesive only and without sufficient back up fastening would eventually fail. Certainly not a durable design from the get go. Probable a result of Musk again overriding competent engineers. Tesla needs to dump him.
Why are you still here?
Just to talk?

Was just coming back here to post the same. I'm in NJ and have gone through the same thing as you. Keep opening service tickets and adding in the light bar install. They keep coming back and saying it's not available yet. I told them others are having the SC order the light bar. They told me I can order it in the Tesla app. They also said my beast doesn't have any open recalls. So I pasted the NHTSA link for my VIN showing 1 open recall.

Does my SC just suck? Is there one in the NJ area that people recommend? Eatontown is the one I've been using.

well, technically, we don't even know if the latest fix will completely resolve it...bolted sounds solid but never know. Just keep the truck and enjoy. Not a big deal honestly.
